I can finally walk up stairs again and sit/stand without assistance from the arms of the chair.

Now what about this purple toe??? It looks discusting..especially the toenail!

What is it? How do I make it go away?

It'll either fall off or the blood behind it will drain out in a few weeks. Nothing to worry about. And now you can be one of those runners proudly wearing the "toenails are for sissies" shirts.

As long as the skin is not beet red wear it proudly. The red would indicate possible infection. My nail wasa water blister this year so the nail was about a quarter inch off the nail bed the second day. It popped and drained for a day. Now just getting to the point where the hurt is gone and I can wear all shoes.

Ditto to all of this, and, FWIW, I added a half size to my running shoes after my 2004 marathon with black toenail, and haven't gotten one since. Something about more room in the toebox.

But yeah, that's a badge of honor!!

Every time I go to a new salon to get a pedicure, they look at my feet and toenails and say "Oh, you're a runner, aren't you?"

It comes with the territory. Running doesn't make for pretty feet, but the other benefits are worth it!

That toenail may eventually come off...takes several weeks to months. But don't worry...another one will be growing in under it!

Darker nail polish is the other "coping mechanism" I use.

And...would happily trade you my probably stress fracture for your bruised toenail. good thing I like water running!
