A while back someone had suggested a really good battery charger from Thomas distibuting. I'm ready to order now I'm not sure which one. I have the Cannon S2 and I want one that really holds a charge along with extra batteries. I tried doing a search but the Dove ad gets in the way.:headache:

Thanks,
Vanessa

I'm not sure you want to leave batteries in the charger for extended lengths of time, but I believe your camera takes 4 AA batts. So maybe an 8 battery charger would work. This one will do up to eight batts or even just one.

I've been using the Maha 401 for several years now and have been very happy with it.

Have you seen the Eneloop batteries, suppose to keep the charge longer when not in use (min self-discharge) I think I "need" some of these!!

Thanks tinksdad. I think this is the one I'll go with. Any advice on batteries? I was thinking the Maha NiMH but saw something about the new Sanyo eneloop batteries.

Thanks,
Vanessa

I've been using their batteries for awhile now and have nothing but good things to say about them!! In fact I've got one set that (1800mAh) that are still going that are probably 4-5 years old. Just got another four sets of the 2700mAh which should keep all my speedlights and pocket wizards remotes going for some time now!!

I like the idea of more power. The mAh determines the capacity or the run-time the battery can provide you. The higher the mAh, the more run-time you get out of your device.

The new eneloop or similar are only available in 2000mAh, but will last a looonnngg time sitting. So, if your not using your camera/flash often those might be the best. If your using your camera/flash a lot, then go for the higher rated mAh type batteries.

While at Disney I think we'll be using the camera more than it will be sitting. I think I'll get 2 sets of maha and 1 of the eneloop.

Thanks for all your help.

I have used the LaCrosse here with my S2 for quite some time now....

Looks like MaHa has a similar one now. I found it to be great, with the various charging speeds, and very importantly, the ability to analyze a battery and see if good. I have found several bad ones over the past 18 months. A 'regular' charger, with no real feedback, would not find that. As for batteries, I use Energizer 2500's.

I put a 2nd vote in for the LaCrosse BC-900 Advanced Charger... I have had it for a while now. You can track how much 'juice' was put into each battery, and can control speed of charge, and much more. Well worth it for the money, and reasonably priced too.

I saw these too late. I went ahead and ordered the maha charger and now I'm thinking I might like the lacrosse better.

Which Maha did you order? (if you don't mind sharing)

That's a GREAT product!! You'll be happy for a long time with that one!!

No buyers remorse.......:rolleyes1

The battery charger I use is Panasonic BQ390 it charged 4 batteries in a hour. The batteries that came with it are Panasonic 2500mah Ni-MH. I liked the charger so much I picked up a second one and now have 8 spare batteries plus 10 batteries in 4 cameras. I'm thinking of getting another package before we head south so we all can have a spare set. I'm not sure how these compare to the ones your looking for but these are a good option. Here is the link to panasonic if your interested in seeing what the charger looks like and seeing specs.
