Can anyone tell me what kind of batteries Pal Mickey takes? We plan to buy one in June, and I'd like to bring extra batteries from home in case we need them.

Thanks!

I just got my daughter to check our PalMickey out for the type of battery. She said that she saw 4 AA's but there could be more. (Teenagers!!!) I just wanted you to know that we have had ours since our trip in May 2003 and we have still not replaced the batteries. When my niece comes to play we always get it out for her so it has been used a lot. Also, my daughter said that it was on when she took it out so there's no telling how long that has been.

According to Mickey's instructions he uses 3. 1 set of batteries should be fine, I had put fresh ones in before our trip in January and didn't have to change them. My Mom's and friends PM is the same age as mine but one of them did end up changing batteries once while we were there. So I'd just have on hand a set for back up.

My mouse (computer) uses the same batteries so I always have them on hand and tossed in an extra set for the trip and even though I didn't need it this time I will toss them in again the next trip.

have fun!!!!

Thanks for the replies! :D

Hey - just thought you should know that we have never replaced Mickey's batteries and he has been on 3 trips with us. Also, if you opt to take extra batteries, know that you need a screw driver to open the battery compartment. I just looked at it and it is a flat head - normal size - so you would probably be able to open it with the cleaner tool on a set of nail clippers.

Yes 3 AA batteries and just fyi a knife (even plastic) will work in a pinch!!

We got ours in July of 03 and have used him lots at home and on subsequent trips on August 03, Nov 03 with minimal battery replacement. That changed during our last trip in Feb 04 as he was going through batteries very quickly. Hopefully it was a bad batch but we had to replace them 2x during a 7 day trip :-(. Just so your prepared as batteries from home are alot cheaper than wdw batteries.

I do take the batteries out when he is not in use at home and during travel and my girls were very good about turning him off at night. That said my girls think he is great fun and enjoy him at the parks!

I was a bit bored so I thought I'd give it a try.... I just now used a penny, nickel, dime and quarter and they all worked on the screw. Watch that little screw, it's a short one.

Worst case you can always ask a cast member, they might have a screwdriver on hand or tell you were to go.

BTW, thanks for asking the question, I had asked the same back before my 1st trip with him. Whew! I'm not the only worrier about *wink*

Happy Spring!

I'm sure you will love yours when you get him, other posters have given you the battery info you needed so can I say have a magical and safe trip to WDW,have a great time.::yes:: :wave2:
