Batman: The Dark Knight

Ok I was talking to my dad and he said that in the 1930's they said in the comic books that he fell into a toxic waste dump. His face is apparently not covered in make up even tho in the movie it is. and that is how he got the scars. Thats wat i know.

Yeah thats the comic/ Jack Nicolson Joker version. Thats the one where his face is paralyzed in a smile.

Heath is more of an actual like real injury. I dont think anything major like a vat was the cause of his scars.

My mom hated TDK because it wasn't like the "comic" version.
She was freaking out the whole time wondering when they were gonna show him falling into the chemicals or whatever.

I think I liked him so much because you really have no clue where he came from.
He's just flippin awesome.
And funny.

I have to agree with you. I do like the mysteriousness of him. I thought Heath did a FANTASTIC job. And though other ppl think he shouldnt, I think he should an oscar, even though he is dead. I loved him!

You can't take an Oscar away from someone just because they died. He deserves it, and i think it would give his daughter something to cherish. Something to remember him by.

If he deserves it, he should get it. (Which in my opinion, he DOES IMMENSELY)

But I think he should go for supporting actor, not lead. Its only halfway through the year and there may be some great roles.

He better win or I'm throwing something at my tV screen.

I agree, he certaintly deserves it! I never thought I would be saying that a comic book villian deserves and OSCAR, but here I am saying Heath Ledger DESERVES an OCSCAR.

::yes::

Totally agree.

I agree that Heath deserves some type of an award for his role as The Joker. He did an amazing job.

I'm downloading this as we speak!

where are you downloading it from?
i. want. it.

xP

it's still not going to stop me from seeing it in theaters though. I really want to see it on a big screen again. IMMEDIATLY. lol

I REALLY REALLY liked this movie a LOT.

Yes, it was very similar to the first in some aspects, but others...WOW.

I also didn't like Maggie Gyllenhall as much as Katie Holmes as Rachel.

SPOILER ALERT: HIGHLIGHT TO READ.

WHAT THE HECK WHY DID SHE DIE!? I mean, I know WHY but GAH that kinda annoys me. I have a love of characters who forever love their first loves and when they end up together...yeah. But blow her to bits? C'mon, that's not very nice. They did a great job creating Two-Face though. I thought they were going to end it there and make another movie. Apparently 2 was enough for them.

*possible spoilers*

I didn't like the new Rachael either. She looked too old IMO.
And I would never break up with batman ;]

Didn't the joker give Batman the wrong directions? Like..when Lt. Gordon asked who batman was gonna save, he said Rachael. I died when he showed up at Harvey's place. I was like HOLY CRAP NO WAY! I'm not a Harvey fan.

More spoiler discussion. Highlight to read.

No, the Joker gave him directions to both. Batman had to choose. He chose Harvey because Harvey was the beacon of light in all that was good. I also think he was counting on Gordon to get there in time so that not only would Harvey continue on with his work, but also so he could finally ditch his Batman responsibilities and be with Rachel. Her wanting to be with Harvey? TOTALLY fair and realistic. Her dying? Still too extreme for me. As I said to my friends as I left the theatre "Every super hero needs their Lois Lane."

SPOILERS on SPOILERS!

For Batman going out to Dent instead of Rachel..

Taken directly from the imdb.com FAQ for The Dark Knight:

At a pivotal point in the film, Batman is given two addresses and told that he can only save one of the people, those two people being either Harvey Dent or Rachel. Batman leaves the station and says he is going for Rachel. He leaves the police to rescue Harvey. Unfortunately, with his trademark black humor, the Joker lied about which victim was at which address. Thus while Batman intended to save Rachel, he "saves" Harvey instead.

Also, Rachel is not in the original Batman series and is Nolan's creation for his series. While I agree that her character could have some involvement in the third installment, this movie wanted to leave Batman as the Dark Knight.. ''Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight.''.
Him being without Rachel strengthens his portrayal as a lonely, heroic figure, the way this movie wants to project him.

yeah the first time i watched it i thought that batman went for harvey instead of rachel because he needed harvey.

but then i realized that the joker had given him the wrong addresses, because the police wound up where rachel was, so if he had given them the right addresses, the police AND batman would've wound up at Harvey's place.

I actually LIKED that she died. It was something so different in a superhero movie...the girl NEVER dies, but they took a huuuuuge risk in this movie with that (among all he other crazy amazing risks they took) and i think it really worked because it totally surprised everyone.

I agree.

But I have to disagree with everyone else and say that I liked Maggie Gyllenhall better as Rachel than Katie Holmes.

Maybe it's just because I don't like Katie Holmes...
:confused3
Lol.
