We are completely renovating our main bath. We have a 46-year old cast iron tub in there that is in very good condition. Unfortunately, it's light orange. We are trying to decide what to do.

1) Replace with new cast iron tub
2) Replace with enamel over steel tub
3) Replace with some sort of plastic/fiberglass material tub
4) Resurface tub

Anyone have any pros/cons that they wish to share? My initial instinct is to go with a new cast iron tub, but that's just gut...no intelligence or research to go along with it.

The guys redoing the bathroom are somewhat against the cast iron because of weight.

I would keep the current tub and resurface. There is nothing like a cast iron tub for ease of cleaning and just using the tub. If you have it professionally resurfaced it will last a long, long time.

The other option is to do the remodel around the light orange :lmao:

Why care what the guys think, unless they have structural reasons for saying to get eid of it, your tub, your house, your money, your preference. I LOVE those old tubs and would totally resurface one if it ever crossed my path, I wouldn't give a hoot what they had to say
