Bathroom Air Freshner is a must not an option

Okay, just returned from the May 22nd Wonder. I had read where to carry air freshner for the stateroom restrooms, but I took it as a suggestion and not a must. I would say that it is a must. I was an inexperienced cruise and didn't know, but apparently the vented systems on board are not all that great. You definitely need air freshners for the restrooms.

Did you make sure the soils pipe vent on the floor, just behind the toilet seat was kept full of water? If not, sewer gasses will seep into your bathroom from the plumbing.

We had no idea about this. Was this something that the Stateroom Host should have taken care of?

Two cruises and we've never had this problem. I've heard random reports of it, but I really don't think it's the norm.

Having returned from the Magic on May 14th, traveling with DH and DS17 & DS13, I don't think we're referring to sewer gases here!!! :crazy2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I had to put a cup or two down our vent during the last cruise, but other than that no need for air freshener in there.

I wish I had known about the trap. Is it on the floor, behind the toilet?

I came back from a shore excursion and thought I had forgotten to flush, but never could find the source of the smell. I just figured it was like a train, too many low water toilets in a small space. :sad2:

I closed the door and forgot about it.

I wish the bathrooms were a little roomier. I'd rather knock down the wall and have one bathroom that is the size of the two that are there.

If there were just 2 to the cabin, one bathroom would be okay. But the split bathroom is a brilliant idea for those of us that had 4 in a room.

As for odors, never had any in our cabin.

I have brought those stickups in the past. Usually works quite nicely. Not overwhelming. Gives just a nice refreshing scent to the room. :)
