Bathing suits for a 14 year old?

I will second a rash guard. Excellent for sun protection as well as preventing wardrobe malfunctions. Lands end has them, as does Athleta and Nordstrom.

Target or JCP! At 14 and 26 I still get all my suits there. I'm about a B on top but I still like the tops that are more like bras than halter tops. You don't have to worry about them coming untied and they still put on rides . We just did blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon and besides a massive wedgie. And at 14 if my mom had suggested shorts and a shirt or even a tankini I would have refused - and probably bought a bikini anyways.

I just bought my 13 yr old dd 2 bathing suits from old navy. 1 of them is a one piece and one is a tankini. They are both really cute and cover everything lol.

I just had the lovely bathing suit shopping trip today with my 11 year old. In the last few months, she's decided that she likes to act like she's 17, so all she wanted was bikinis. I finally found one at Sears, of all places, that we could both agree on, and we got a practical tankini/boy short combo at JCP for swim lessons and water parks.

On a similar note, they really need a section of clothing for girls ages 10-14. My DD is an early bloomer, and at 11 is already a b cup. Her body is starting to mature, but in no way should she be dressing like that at 11. She's too big for kids clothes, and way too young for juniors booty shorts! It is such a struggle to find clothes we are both satisfied with!!!

Zappos.Com has a good selection of swimsuits. You can sort by style as well. They list namebrands. I have had good luck with selections on Zappos.

Other than that, head to your local mall department store to see what they have in stock. I agree Target is decent and sells pieces separates. You can also find suits at Dicks sporting goods.

Title Nine and Athleta have nice athletic swimwear.

My DD18 has always had good luck at Target and she's a super picky girl. I don't have a problem with bikinis though so I'm not sure if you would consider them appropriate.

Old Navy can work, but watch out for one issue: their suits are often made with a very narrow crotch. (I hope that doen't get stop-worded.) I've found that though otherwise conservative-looking, those suits are absolutely NOT modest when sitting cross-legged.

As to Land's End, look at their athletic-cut suits (tankinis available as well), or at their Canvas line; those are designed for the younger customer.

If cost isn't a major issue for you, try www.limericki.com Very cute modest suits, but they are a bit on the pricey side. They do have some clearance suits available right now, though.

Also, if the lack of lining in an otherwise acceptable bra top is an issue, just add in a bra lining. These are available at any fabric store, and are easy to sew in (or even pin in, in some cases.) If all you want is something to smooth out the surface, a simple lining piece of flesh-toned fleece sewn to the inner corners will do nicely; it is comfortable against the skin and won't absorb water.
