I live in Virginia. Today it is supposed to be in the 30s. We have only JUST begun our cold weather. Jan-Mar are the pits--cold, windy, icy, etc. So, when I went into Target yesterday after work, they had just put out the swimsuits. :(

Now, I know that stores no longer sell merchandise regionally like they used to. I swear, 20 years ago, the swimsuits weren't out until May and if you needed one in the winter (like for a vacation) you either had to go to a sporting goods store and pick up a Speedo or you had to go to Nordstrom as they had a "cruisewear" section.

All the sweaters were on 50% clearance. I guess I missed out on stocking up on some winter items.

I've already bought two swimsuiys from Target. :sunny: I've been in retail for many years, and this time of year is traditionally when the " resort wear " is featured in the stores. I love Target bathing suits- they fit me really well, and the designs are great :)

I saw them yesterday and loved them. Great colors and styles this year. Sure its 31 degrees here with snow on the ground, but a girl can dream can't she? I have to prepare for our girls trip to WDW in early summer and buy something cute.

I'm in Connecticut. I went looking at the mall yesterday for season clearance winter clothes for DD next year. Children's Place was about 1/3 filled with summer clothes -- flip flops, sunglasses, tank tops, etc. :scared1: We have 3-4 months before anyone would actually wear such clothes around here!

Thanks for the heads up! We are heading to Great Wolf Lodge next weekend and DS needs another bathing suit.

Oh how I wish it was swim suit time. We have a long way to go for that. :crazy2: :(

I think it's ridiculous how they rush the change of seasons, but I guess it's the nature of the business. :confused3

I thought they always sold them for those who go on spring break to warm places! I know I had a heck of a time finding a decent bathing suit last Jan before I went on a cruise in Feb. I wished they had more out then actually  So I went to an all swimwear store.

People like buying months in advance for seasons... I am looking forward to bulky sweaters being gone since I hate long sleeve (even in the winter) and finding nice short sleeved shirts again :)

I live in NH, and there's barely any selection of winter clothes left :confused3 That would be perfect if we lived in a place where we could wear short sleeve shirts all year long, but I probably won't be wearing those for another 5 or 6 months. I really wanted to find more sweatshirts and sweaters. But apparently I have to wait for that until next July, or buy some more school sweatshirts
And our Filenes had the bathing suits right next to the leftover winter coats

I made our beach reservations yesterday for July. I need to check out those swimsuits before they put out the winter sweaters in June. ;)

Here's what kills me - you can buy a swimsuit now, but in the summer???

Last year in late July DD needed a swimsuit, as her others were getting small (had a big growth spurt) and we couldn't find very much. What ever happened to selling things in the season you need it?? :confused3

Maybe with the cold weather still around it "wishful" shopping. :sunny: :earboy2:

UGHHHHH SWIMSUITS!!!!! What the heck are they doing selling swimsuits before I even finished all the holiday fudge. Everyone knows my diet wont start till the fudge is gone. Now swimsuits are out and I need to find one that looks good before i lose the little bit of holiday extra I put on. The inhumanity of it all! Oh well, guess I will just need to find a really good saraong (aka butt curtian) and all will be ok.

Just cause they are out now doesn't mean I'm buying them now. I won't touch a full price bathing suit! I wait until the sales start and then we shop.

Even if I wanted to buy them now (for my kids), I wouldn't. The sizes my kids are in January are generally NOT the sizes they are in June thru July. My DD is still in her puberty growth spurt and I'm quite sure she won't be in the same size this summer. DS is 11 and there is no way I would take a gamble on this.

I agree with the poster who said it's impossible to find swimsuits "in" season. My DD goes through lots of suits and by July/August we are looking for another one but they certainly aren't available unless you go to a special swimsuit store.

:scared1: Bathing suits!! :scared1:
I have gained so much over the holidays that I don't even want to think about that!!!

you stole my thunder.

i have to start my diet before i can say the S word.......swimsuit
