Bathing Suit...1 piece or 2?

The thing people forget about fashion is that it isn't fashionable if it doesn't look good on you. Low riding jeans are "fashionable" for teenagers but if you are overweight and end up with a muffin top, they just look awful. Sorry. If you look awful in a one piece bathing suit, even if it is the most "fashionable" suit ever, it will still look bad. Find one that looks good on you and go with that and forget what is "in".

two words- bathroom breaks. Can't ever imagine going back to a one piece. Restroom visits so much easier with a tankini! :thumbsup2

(Also like chosing different sizes for tops/bottoms. I have a couple solid color bottoms and a couple print tops, great to mix and match!)

Good point!

I can't be the only one with this problem, so I'm going to ask you ladies: what do you when it's not your stomach that's the problem, but your legs? I have a tiny waist, flat stomach, but my legs are horrid. Not fat, just not firm and I have cellulite. One pieces or tankinis do nothing to camoflauge this problem. I just don't wear a swimsuit anymore - ever. Surely there must be a solution? I've tried the skirted suits and I look like an old lady.

Have you tried the suits that have short style bottoms? I have one like that and I like it. I realy hate the skirt bottoms and to be honest, that was my goal in WW..............to be able to buy a suit that did not have a skirt. I actually ordered a two piece from Blair that had black shorts and a tank type top that hid my thighs and was comfortable.

Well, I can assure you that NO ONE wants to see me in a bikini. :scared1::scared1: :rotfl:

That being said, I suppose that I am a tankini type. I like the two piece suit that covers everything and has a skirt. They used to be very popular years ago, now I think that they are like wearing a huge sign around your neck that screams "I'M A MOM!" Of course, since I am a Mom, it works for me. :)

I'm not a fan of the one piece just because it is so much easier to use the restroom in a two piece!

Well, I feel self conscious the first time out then I look around and see many, many people way worse off than me and stop worrying about it. Granted there are many, many people that look way BETTER than me but I just console myself that I too once looked like that and their time will come :lmao::lmao:.:lmao:

I think it's less about fashion and more about what looks good on YOU. You know what looks better on your body and what you're comfortable in, where what you like, not what the "fashionista" says what's "in".

I totally agree! I don't care a bit about what the fashion mags consider "in"! I'm a 40-something year old woman with two kids. I'm wearing what I feel most comfortable in! (for me, that is a tankini...top with a skirted bottom.)

Lands End makes tankini separates with a mini skirt bottom. It's a nice straight skirt, not a flouncy one. I think it covers a multitude of sins! I'd go with something like that, or swim shorts with an attached panty.

Try Nivea's Goodbye Cellulite gel cream. It REALLY works!!!

Seriously???!!! I always thought there was NOTHING to be done for cellulite. Where can I find this? Does Walgreen's have it?

I have 2 different suits. Both are tankini's. I prefer them because they seem to disguise my little muffin top a bit more than a swimsuit.

First tankini is like a tank top, with boy cut swim bottoms. I purchased it at the same, time and both are the identical flower design.

Second tankini is a bit more fashionable. I purchased the top this year. It is a black and white "bandini" top (bandeau top that ties around the neck). I purchased the bottoms a couple years ago. They are a black and white board short.

Both suits are cute. I love them! I have had the first one for about 4 or 5 years now.

If I went with a 2 piece it would have to be a 2 piece that covered every inch of my fat with extra material so that none of it "accidentally" popped out.

I tend to go with a classic one piece fo this reason. I'm not thinking anyone wants to see my "muffin top".

Sounds similar to my situation. Don't like the inner thighs, but the rest is okay.

I just bought a bikini (halter) top and a ruffled swim-mini from Lands End. Seems to do the trick. In the past i have also bought the same style top with boyshort bottoms, but I like the swim-mini better.

Might want to check out the Lands End website. They have many, many styles there.

Have you tried shorts?

I should try a tankini. I am a size bigger on the bottom than on top so a one piece never fits right.

You could go with the surfer girl look. Take a look at www.ohanaswimwear.com; they are having a big sale right now. You could even just buy the swim shorts and get a regular tankini top that's a bit more bare -- something to draw the eye UP.

Tankini at summer camp where I'm a counselor or with family (hot pink top with black bottoms), a bikini when I'm where no one knows me but DH. (He doesn't care how plump I am...he really likes a bikini on me. I guess that's a good thing?!) :) The tankini top came from Land's End and is very supportive. I have another tankini top but it floats up and drives me batty when I actually want to swim!

I actually bought one of each for this season. I liked them both so much that I said what the heck and bought them both.:cool1:
