We will be in WDW in 2 weeks!!:cool1:

Anyway, DS is 5 months and cannot sit up yet. I am trying to figure out how to bathe him. Any suggestions? I was going to buy one of thise inflatable tubs, but I don't know if it would be helpful since he can't sit up by himself. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can you bathe him while you shower?

I have brought my kids into the shower with me & dh stands outside of it waiting with a towel.

Otherwise I'd say line the sink with a towel for cushioning & put him in there.

Don't know if any of these would work for you but here are some of my suggestions.

1. Either you or someone else get in the tub with him and let him lay on your legs. This is how our kids took their baths forever (it was their time w/daddy or granddad).
2. Just give him a sponge bath every night. (The same way you did before the stump fell off when they were an infant.)
3. Just put him in the shower with you. A little bit slippery but still gets the job done.

That's what we did with a 9 month old on a cruise ship, where a shower was the only choice. It worked well.

I just put a towel down in the tub, and just about 2-3 inches of water. I laid the baby across one arm and kind of supported her. I used my free hand to soap up the little one, then used the plastic cups used for drinking and rinsed with that.
Or if all else fails, take a bath with her.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I think I might try the shower thing before vacation and see how he does. My older 2 HATED showers until recently (they're 7 & 5). I think the sponge bath suggestion would work too. We have those disposable washcloths with the baby soap already in them, so we could just use those each night. I don't normally bathe him every night due to his eczema, but since we'll be putting sunblock on him every day, I do want to bathe him every night. Does the pool count as a bath? Just kidding!:)

We also showered with each one of our children. They have all grown up being part fish. Never were they bothered by water in their faces.

When dd was 8 months old we just took a bath with her. We are going soon with dd now 3 and her 11 month old brother. He'll be bathing with us as well. It's so easy!

In that situation we just took a bath with our kids. This would not require extra stuff in your suitcase that you may never use again.

We always showered with them, DS is a year old and has only taken a handful of baths. He doesn't mind the water in his face and it's nice time for me and DH to spend with him. DD was the same way, she loved the shower. The washcloths that Huggies and Johnson and Johnson's make are great they have the soap in them already, makes it soooo much easier.

I never felt comfortable with showering (afraid i was going to drop him!), so I would just take a bath with DS. I'd suggest that or just having a little bit of water in the tub (put a towel down first)...

I have done both. My little guy is almost 9 mos old and won't lay down for me to wash his hair. Just wants to play and move around the tub. I have taken a bath with him and that worked fine. I have done the shower also and he likes that the least.

We have something like this

that I think would work. We didn't bring ours though. We showered with him and it was awful. He was slippery and I couldn't figure out how to wash the parts where I was holding him. I wouldn't take a bath with him because even though I know they clean the tubs it still grosses me out. I would use one of the little sling things and then wash with fresh water coming out of the faucet.

I second the inflatable tub, it takes very little space, you can inflate it in no time and you can hang it to dry, ours was a lot smaller than the ducky one pp linked, but worked well for the hotel.

Just a note about the inflatable ducky tub... we bought one for DS for his first trip to WDW (at 5 months old, too!) and we HATED it! He learned to sit up on his own while we were in WDW and the ducky tub was soooo slippery! He'd lean back on it and fall right down into the water. It was so scary. Needless to say, we only used it that one time. The rest of the time, he took a shower with us. (He loves showers, although I do have to admit that his first shower was when he was only a week old, so he's been showering "all his life." LOL)

Have a great trip!

Couldnt one use a baby sling to hold the baby in the shower to make washing him eaiser. Do I make sence?

we took our then 4 month old in january, and had one of the spongey things...we got our at babies r us for like 5 dollars- it is in the shape of a bear. it was a godsend. dd was too wiggley even then to safely take in a shower with you, with this you just lay them on top of it and give them their bath. the best part is that it is cheap enough to juct leave there if you do not want to take it home. fyi- i loved it so much that we brought it back home(packed well b/c it just smushes up), packed the infant bathtub away, and have been using the bear ever since...definatally the way to go.

DS used a bath-seat thing twice, and he freaked out so much we just put it away.

We didn't bathe him that often as an infant, just didn't feel it was necessary. Of course, I learned that you still do need to clean the folds under the chin, or a gross situation can develop...but regular bathing I never really agreed with. DS was soft and smelled yummy for the longest time, so it seemed to work for him!

So anyway, we bathe with him, either in the tub or the shower. The shower is tricky at first! I started doing it when DH was around to help. For cleaning the underneath, I found propping my foot up on the bath edge, and putting DS on my knee in varying positions did the trick. Then again, I found just bathing myself allowed enough soapy water to cascade down on him, that he ended up cleaner than he was before, so that worked too!

I considered getting a mesh shower sling, but before I got the money together I figured out how to keep him safe in my arms, so I never got one. Plus, in a sling, you have fabric in the way of cleaning the undercarriage, which doesn't help!

But I say taking a bath together is the easiest way. If papa does it, tell him to beware of where baby sits, though! DH learned that the painful way. :scared:
