hello ther

For next year we are considering staying in a villa in Bass Lakes near the 192.
What's the real drive time to Disney from here...anyone help??

thanks:D

We stayed at a villa on Bass Rd, just off 192 a few years ago. I believe that the estate you refer to is on the same road, just near a Super Walmart. If it is the same one...
We found that it took about 10 minutes to Disney proper, maybe 15 mins to Down Town and longer, about 25 mins to Universal parks. This was far better than being located down hwy27 at the many villa complexes down there, IMHO. It took us far less time to get anywhere, than when we were at The Manors (Westridge) or when we stayed near Davenport (another supposedly 'Disney area' villa!!!)
Hope this helps,
Ian

thanks Matty

thats what I thought, Last year we stayed in Calabay Parc. We had a lovely villa and although we got to Disney fairly quickly, it took quite a while getting back!!

We're doing it on a budget this year (who isn't lol) and the Bass Lake villa is the best price near to Disney yet....I just dont want to make a mistake and end up moaning about the 192 all holiday (and only have myself to blame!!)

I see you stayed on Indian point..is it much easier to travel to disney from there than Bass lakes ...or not much difference at all.
I suppose we could take the back road from walmart (the oren brown) and travel up poinciana to the 535 to get to disney.
any thoughts on that anyone.

Also is it feasible to pop home from the parks for a while in the afternoon if staying here,(Bass Lakes) or do you need to be in an area like formosa gardens and the like to do that??

Why cant I just pick one and get on with it???

I'll let you know how Indian point is in 3 weeks time! That's when we're staying at IP!!!
Looking at maps, it looks like from Ind P. you can simply cross 192 to get to LBV, therefore avoiding travelling along 192 altogether. That said, we didn't find 192 that bad last year, on our many trips to Walmart, now that improvements have been completed.
What have you been quoted Galaxy, we've managed to get a 3 bed villa (with pool) overlooking conservation land (is that real-estate talk for waste land?) for £375/week, but I think it's a bit cheaper because we're going for 4 weeks (woohoooo....)
By the way, it took me weeks of umming and ahhhing before I chose our villa. In the end, availability, price and above all location all had to be weighed up carefully! (I drove dw mad)
I chose IP because there were no available villas on Bass Rd, which is where we really wanted. We'll just have to hope IP is just as good.

We have been qouted £475 for a 4 bed villa (pics look nice).
Some of the villas nearer to disney are looking for £675 upwards for the same standard.

Our flights are booked 23 April - 7 May 04 . We want to get the villa organised so we know what to save up for. Still paying off credit cards for this years 3 week trip..!!

Noted you went to DLP with 47 kids:crazy: you must be mad or a teacher??? maybe both.

Yup, indeed quite mad... I've never fancied DLP, not after going to WDW, but I'm a Deputy in an area where children don't often get to go to UK theme parks, never mind Disney. Amazingly, we didn't get one complaint from 47 10-11 year olds, despite the weather being a constant -10C the entire time we were there! (plenty of whinging from the teachers though!)
£475/week seems pretty reasonable for a 4 bed. I'd say go ahead and book it, but in reality if it were me, I'd probably be so indecisive that I'd wait too long and it wouldn't be available! lol

This is link to the one we've got this summer. Delete the last bit and explore, it seems like quite a good site. (although I'm not sure that this is the site we actually first found the villa on, it seems to be advertised on a few sites, we've been dealing direct with the owners.)

Actually changed my mind, that site is quite small, it's run by the management company that looks after the villa, I recognise the names at the bottom. There are much better sites out there which can put you in contact with the owners direct, I'll try and dig them out later.

Give villarama.com a look. We use it all the while and have never been disappointed.

Good luck:cool:
