Hello all!! I'm in my brothers wedding in Oct and for the Bridal shower in August we all have to make 3 baskets. I was wondering if you all had any good cheap ideas!! There are only 3 of us in the wedding party so there will only be 9 baskets. If i can get some good cheap ones i can make a few more!!
Thanks in advance!!

Could you please elaborate a little more about the baskets so we can make suggestions. Are they themed gift baskets as shower gifts, are they prizes for the shower etc??????

Are the baskets for the bride or a prize for games?

A quite night at home - blockbuster gift card, popcorn, candy

wine and cheese

picnic supplies - maybe a picnic set and some interesting spreads

pasta night - interesting pasta/sauces etc.

baking supplies - recipe for some dessert, ingredients, measuring spoons, rolling pin, back tins etc.

Sorry.. they are baskets for us to raffle off during the shower... so they are for the Guests not the bride!! thanks for all the ideas already!!

Spa basket--scented candle, bath products
Manicure/Pedicure basket--toe separators, nail polish, nail file, foot brush
Chocolate Lovers--name says it all:love:
Fiesta--tortilla chips, salsa, cheese dip/sauce

scrap booking basket--some cute papers, stickers, double sided tape, stamps and shaped scissors or punch

margarita glasses, rimming salt, jose cuervo or a mix can add chips and salsa too

Love the movie night one and italian one

christmas--sometimes at the wrong time of year you can find some expensive beautiful ornaments at TJmaxx or similar stores for almost nothing

baking--hot pads, cookie recipie book, small scoop, good quailty choc chips or nuts or other ingredients

poker night--cards, poker chips, pretzels, beer

Green Basket--reusable grocery bags, BPA free water bottle, reusable lunch kit items etc...

Family Movie or game night

Ice cream sundae (toppings, Sundae glasses and GC from Friendly's)

BBQ basket (sauces, cooking tools, smores, beans and lemonade)

Coffee and tea (different coffees and teas, cups, cookies)

Pasta night (collander, pasta, sauce, cheese, garlic, spices)

Ice Cream baskets....ice cream toppings, scooper, cute dishes (dollar store even) and if you contact the company you might be able to 'buy' free coupons. (We were planning to do this for my sister's shower (engagement called off) and my Mom called Dryers/Edy's and they said we could buy coupons from them. We figured you couldn't put the actual ice cream in the basket, so we were going to wash out used tubs and put the coupon with all the other stuff in the basket.)

Just a side note...I was at Target today and they had cute individual popcorn tubs in the dollar bins.

for my Sisters Showers we did baskets we got some really cute stuff from the dollar stores we did alot of baskets here are a few I can remember.

Candle
Bath
Gardening
Picture Frames with disposable camera
Plastic Cotainers with lids- everyone loved it because they are useful
Summer Plates the bright colored ones with matching cups etc
wine with wine glasses and candy
chocolate basket
junk food basket chips, candy bars,
baking basket measuring cup cake mixes, icing, sprinkles
Pasta basket- sauce, pasta, strainer, olive oil
Movie Basket in a pop corn tin with snacks and gift certificate to local video store

Kid's Car Basket - fill with dollar store toys, books, candy, puzzles, window markers, etc.

You could do a 'kitchen' basket for really cheap. At the dollar store - grab a serving spoon, spatula, slotted spoon and then grab a set of kitchen towels (I've done kitchen towels for a shower prize before and they were the first thing to go - before any of the candles or bath stuff- everyone always could use new ones) and a pot hoder or trivet. If enough in the budget - you could use a collandar as the 'basket' to wrap everything.

poker night--cards, poker chips, pretzels, beer

Green Basket--reusable grocery bags, BPA free water bottle, reusable lunch kit items etc...

I love the poker night. Will use this at the next fundraiser. There are never enough baskets themed for men.

Do you have a wicker store near you? They usually have lots of neat and cheap gifts you could do all types of themes if there is one! A beach Basket, A candle Basket, A sports basket, Halloween , makeup etc....

How about a candy bouquet? I have done these for gifts, you can use any kind of container, crumple up foil in the bottom, attach different candy bars/candy items to thin wooden skewers, arrange like flowers in the container. If you google candy bouquet you can see lots of examples. This can be done very inexpensively with candy on sale, etc. You can do an all chocolate one, or mix different candies, etc. :)

I'm curious. Is this a new "raise money for the bride and goom" thing?

I am with you. I don't understand the point of this at all? This sure stinks of another money grab if you ask me.

Every region of the country is different. Many religions have their own customs.

A good, Southern, protestant wedding would never have alcohol or a money dance, but that doesn't mean Catholics are going to stop having open or cash bars at their receptions and cultures that shower the bride with cash during that dance will stop.

Different strokes for different folks. And if this type of shower means you aren't bringing a gift, and the bride gets cash instead of stuff she may not like / want / need, what's the harm? These days, esp, the bride and groom may need cash for rent a lot more than they need another place setting of china they'll never use. :confused3
