I know this may seem like a silly question with all of the Disneyesque things to do, but does Fort Wilderness have any basketball courts? My sons are fanatics, and a vacation isn't a vacation if they can't get a pick-up game in once or twice during the week... :jumping1:

Thanks!

No full blow courts. But some loops do Have a hoop I know for sure the 200 loop has one and I think between the 1900 and the 1800 loop there is another. There may be more but that is the only 2 I can think of.

1300 has a good size court and also has a playground right next to it. It is very close to 1200 and right on the main road which makes it right across from 1100.

I also think there is a half court in 1400.

Those are the two loops we have stayed in that I remember had courts.:)

Bring your own ball or you can get one from the bike barn if I remember correctly?!?:confused3

I see your new to the camping boards,,
WELCOME !!
No silly questions when it comes to our kids, feel free to ask.

I believe Flame and Lone Star got that one covered.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! So glad to hear they'll have a couple of options. We'll be sure to bring our own basketball--those are as essential packing list items as toothbrushes--probably more so to my guys (14 and 10). :lmao:

And thanks for the welcome to the board--I "lurked" here some last summer when DH and I bought our first camper and fell in love with this lifestyle (he's actually living in the camper right now while he attends War College) and thought we'd bring the camper to DW next time, but it just doesn't make sense to us to spend the money hauling it to Florida when we can rent a cabin... oh well, someday...

Welcome.

The 300 loop also has a small B ball area.

It depends on what you're hauling and how you drive, but given the price difference between cabins and campsites, you might still save money bringing the camper. Not to mention easier to do you own cooking and sleep in your own beds.

Very true--might still be cheaper. We weighed both the financial cost and the mental>;) We have a 33 foot camper with only one bedroom. It's great for DH and me, and our two boys, not so great for our 16-year-old daughter. While she'll be a decent sport about it, she hates sleeping on an air mattress in the living room. Plus, DH is living in the camper in Virginia until June--we'd be uprooting his semi-permanent home and that will present difficulties as well--especially for us newbies.

Our plan is to stay in a cabin this year (used the 4/3 plan and got a GREAT deal, even better than any military deal we've used in the past), get some camping under our belts this summer (3 trips to the beach planned), then camp at FW in 2011 when DD is in college. DH, the boys, and I will be on :cloud9:
