Basket weaving?

Has anyone done this? For a thanksgiving project, we made christmas baskets. It was my first time and I did darn good if I do say so myself.
It was time consuming, and peaceful. I enjoyed it. Does anyone else?

I have friends who've done it, but I stayed home due to my allergies. I think it sounds like a great idea for a holiday activity. Did you buy kits or did someone know what they were doing?

I've done it - first from a kit and later I took a class. Right after the class I bought some reed on-line & made some for C'mas presents. I also made a couple really small ones - 1.5 x 3 maybe - they were really neat because you could finish them so quickly....but peaceful? Maybe I'm too much of a "type A" personality, but I get frustrated when they're not Longaberger-quality!

I had thanksgiving at my h's aunt and uncles house. They are both teachers adn always have some planned activity, you can do it or not as you want.
It may have started out as a kit, but they had enough stuff for everyone to make one. They had done them before so were able to help whoever needed it.
Mine had the square block of wood on the bottom and I had to add the reed and start weaving and keeping the reed in the wood was a challenge. lol
I don't know what style, but it started out with the square bottom and ended up round, it's about six inches around and 4 inches high, with a handle.
I had a headache and it gave me something to do that was sociable yet alone. It was also my first time weaving so I was allowing for it to be a disaster. But it wasn't, in fact it was surprisingly nice.
