Basic questions about dining plan

Hi all,

I'm just trying to find out the basics in case free dining becomes available. We have booked our hotel (CBR), flights and 14 day park tickets through the Walt Disney World website. Everything is all linked up on MDE and we've made all the dining reservations we want for the duration of our stay. If free dining was to become available during our stay how do we ask for it to be added to our booking? Can I add it via MDE? Does anything happen to our existing restaurant reservations? Does is cost anything?

Your best bet will be to call once/if it is announced. It is my understanding that if your current reservation is a package, then they can add the free dining to the package. Any change in cost SHOULD just be an increase in your room reservation if you have any discount on that portion since you must pay full rack rate on the room in order to get free dining. However, they may have to cancel the current reservation and rebook it with the free dining promotion. It should not affect anything in your MDE, but then, it is IT, so who knows.

The only other thing that might mess you up is how many rooms are available at CBR for the free dining promotion. You may have to change resorts, so be prepared with an alternate.

They've just started a modify option on the website, but in this case I think I might want to call (even if you already booked a package) in case your resort isn't available all 14 nights and you have to move to one that is.

My other question is whether or not you are from Britain...there usually isn't such a thing as 14 day tickets. Things are different if you are from Britain.

Hi both. Thanks for your responses.

We have already upgraded our room to a king room from standard at CBR. We have not received any type of discount on the cost of the hotel. Hopefully we won't have to upgrade again to be entitled to FD.

Yes we are from Britain hence the 14 day Disney parks ticket.
