I get mistaken for Latina sometimes. I live in a predominantly hispanic area, and with my brown eyes and dark (well, salt and pepper) hair people have turned to me in doctor's offices and in lines or whatever and started speaking in Spanish to me.

I guess American - in that lookswise, I often blend in where I am. I was in Prague once and the guard at the door correctly guessed my Italian and Polish heritage and told me he was having a hard time deciding what language to address me in. When I was traveling in Peru many people inexplicably thought I was Japanese (Though I think that was in part a result of my Polish last name sounding Japanese to their ears). In Greece I was often addressed in German first - but that may have been because they see more German tourists than anything. In Ireland, people were often surprised when I started talking and didn't have an Irish accent.

I am an American of Irish descent. I look somewhat Irish, my sister said when she lived in Boston people could tell she was Irish, but I think we are mostly average white American looking.

i think we look American. However, DH is often mistaken as a German. And, while in Norway I was mistaken for a local.
