My husband has only agreed to go to WDW if we go to see STL play a game during spring training. So how do I know when this is happening? Has any one gone that can give me some info on things - cost of tickets for a game, if the parks are very busy during that time of the year, go at the start of the training or later? So many questions to get answers to before I plan anything out. PLEASE HELP ME! I want to go and this is my only way!

I've been to a couple of spring training games at WWoS. The tickets are reasonably priced and the stadium is really nice. As far as the schedule, I'm not sure when they publish it, but it should be some time towards the end of the year, after the regular season is over. The Braves have spring training there, but I"m sure they will play the Cardinals at some point.

I would go as early as possible. Spring training goes until the end of March and that is prime spring break time. If you can go in late February or early March you'll be good as far as crowds. Also I'm not sure where the Cardinals have their spring training, but if it's close to Orlando you might want to check that out. You could take a short drive one day of your vacation to go see them play at their facility maybe. Check the Cardinals web page and find out where they play, and you can look at this years spring training schedule to get an idea of when and where they might be playing. Hope this helps.

Buy your tickets as soon as you can. We went to WDW this past March, and found out that the Braves were playing the Yankees during our stay. But they were already sold out. I don't recall the exact prices of the tickets, but I don't think they were unreasonable.

We were there 3/14-3/21 this year, and DH went to two Braves games. Tickets were about $22, plus those stupid Ticketmaster fees. As far as were were able to find out, tix are only available through Ticketmaster - there isn't a general box office at WWoS.

He really enjoyed it - liked the facility, etc. The week we were there they only played one night game (7pm) so we ordered that ticket in advance because they seemed to be going faster than the daily 1pm games (based on "best available" on the TM site); he knew he'd probably do another but didn't want to be locked in. He ended up going to a day game on Saturday which was sold out when he got there but he bought a scalped ticket for $25 easily.

I know people complain about March crowds, but honestly, we didn't think it was bad at all. We have a DD3, so we're early-ish risers anyway, so we just did what lots here recommend - hit a park at opening, stay4 hours or so, head back to the hotel for a leisurely nap/swim break, then return to a different park for the late afternoon/evening. Doing it this way we never waited more than 15 minutes or so in line, and then only once or twice, and maybe once DH skipped a ride because of the line (he's more into the big/fast stuff that DD couldn't/wouldn't do).

THe whole trip was great, and I know he really enjoyed seeing the games he did - a nice break from the parks for him, some downtime for me and DD. I would only avoid the weeks before and after Easter, crowd-wise, but next year that shouldn't be a problem - I'm pretty sure Easter falls in mid-April so spring training will be over anyway.

Good luck planning!

Hi Grants Mom,

The 2006 spring training schedules will not be released until at least November of this year, so that will be cutting it close as far as airfare, hotels, etc. You'll probably miss out on the opportunity to get good rates.

This spring the Cardinals and Braves played only twice at Disney's Wide World of Sports so this is going to be a challenge!

Good luck,

Bob
