Baseball Costumes out today!

Uh, hello?

Before anyone starts writing VMK that it's unfair, sexist, etc....could you
just wait a while? Someone already mentioned the same snafu happened
when the green super hero costumes went on sale, yet nobody other than
Iris seems to have acknowledged this.

Just give VMK a little while to fix it, as they fixed the green hero costumes.
I'm sure they'll be sold to girls or Hula wouldn't have been in that costume.

Well while I see the point and dont have a problem with girls in baseball outfits or superhero outfits (though Pink and I still laugh about the relative size of the seats)... I do see merit in them picking some boys only outfits. I think the problem is that clothes are sooooo much more important to girls than boys, that is why this really only comes up as a source of angst for the ladies/girls of VMK. Although, I have no idea in my imagination as to what they could create for boys that the boys would wear that the (at least some) girls would not want... so the only solution, unfair as it is would be to let the girls buy anything, and the boys buy only boy stuff. The boys would mostly not care anyway. No harm no foul.

I am one of the few guys who managed to buy a couple princess hats when they were available for boys. I thought it was funny so I bought a few and gave all away to girls I met (mostly new players who I ran into in lobbies) and have hung onto the last one for laughs...I really would like it if they made the girl hats, crowns, and other stuff available to boys too. Comedy has a definite place in VMK...

Seriously, my DD9 started cheerleading last year and it is her life! She is going to freak when she logs in and sees her VMK character a cheerleading uniform. I can't wait! :teeth:

See now THAT made me smile! Oh, the fun to see kids get so excited about something that they can relate to. I wish we could see her face when she sees the costumes. Like a mini birthday! SO much fun for you. :cheer2:

Girl...you and I both!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am going to have to agree with the minority on this issue. I'm glad they have a new costume just for the boys.

And face it, more little girls are cheerleaders than baseball players. I don't know very many young girls who would rather play baseball than dance or be a cheerleader. And since this game is supposed to be for young girls...

I would also like to point out that Hula has been wearing a pink and white baseball uniform, so maybe there will be a girl costume later, and maybe it will be a pink and white one.

I must also say I find it slightly amusing to see the adult women so wrapped up in the fairness of VMK. It's life, you don't always get what you want. Stop whining. lol. :rolleyes2

So I am not allowed to buy a baseball outfit? lol, you mean, the only costume I can wear is a cheerleading outfit???

Time to pull out those pom-poms...Rah-rah-rah! :cheer2:

Hmmm...maybe I should start to cheer..."U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi!" (Think vmk will appreciate that?) ;)

And if vmk expects us to pull together a "pyramid" you can't count me out! lol, the day I participate in a land feature is the day pigs fly! :teeth:

I hate cheerleaders! i would rather the baeball uniform thatn a cheerleader one any day.. but you go with what they have..

I will have to respectfully disagree with this assessment. If you have ever been involved in softball you will see little girls who learn that they don't have to sit on the sidelines but can develop awesome skills, power, and strength through sports just as much as boys.

VMK, if it truly was a decision and not a mistake, removes choice based on gender by doing this.

You don't have to do much reading to know that there is a crisis among young girls about what they should conform to, both in body image and in roles. I don't like to see anything in a game AIMED at them tell them they can be cheerleaders but not players.

The girls should be able to play ball, the boys should be able to cheer. Their gender should not determine which role they are allowed to play.

uh i have a question, do you think they made "something" on the cheerleading shirt a little to big for vmk, if you catch my drift?

In my opinion, it is not wrong for "adult women" to worry about the impressions or perceived slights imparted to young girls. In my town, many young girls play ball, starting early with T-Ball, so why is it odd to think girls would want this costume? It is also true that some boys might want a boy version of the cheer outfit. There is nothing wrong with either choice but both choices should be available.

As much as I love VMK, I have to wonder: If the outfits were only for each gender "by design," why are the decision makers at VMK not evaluating their decisions thoroughly or receiving enough input from others? Or, if the baseball outfit is not available to girls due to another bug, why are the decision makers at VMK not insisting that new releases be held until proper, thorough testing is complete? Isn't there a "development" system that holds the new code during testing before that new code is uploaded to the "production" system?

I could not agree with you more!
I have played Baseball and Competitive Fast pitch softball for many years...Sorry VMK but I wouldnt be caught DEAD in a cheer leader outfit...forget the pom poms give me a bat and glove!

On a side not I am pretty sure they have a baseball outfit for girls coming because I have seen the female hosts wearing them.

But I agree this is not sending a good message...
BAD VMK!!! :badpc:

I totally agree with you!! I wouldn't be caught dead in a cheerleader outfit either! I do play softball, but i like using the baseball pitch beter the the softball windup, to hard to focuse on..

I think people know that they can't have everything they want. People are just expressing their disappointment. "Whining" is a pejorative term aimed at the posters, rather than the post.

Can we all watch our comments please! My girls read these boards and I do have a cheerleader in the family. She is quite athletic and DOES NOT just sit on the sidelines. Just because she chooses to cheer does not make her less athletic because she does not play softball, basketball, etc. She is also quite smart and takes pride in what she does.

Whether or not it is right or wrong for VMK to make this gender decision on these costumes is one thing, but to say you "hate" cheerleaders and would not be caught dead in that outfit may hurt the feelings of some of our younger posters/readers. Yes, we are entitled to our own opinions I know but I just wanted to mention that this is a family board.

Please don't bash me, I just want people to watch their comments.

Sorry everyone …I was inspired by Jazstar87 post. :rotfl:

Seriously though, why even have separate boy and girl clothes to begin with? Does it really matter? I seem to remember something about Disney and imagination?

Whats up with that?? Went into emporium to buy my uniform and girls only can get cheerleader outfits? What if I want to go into a room and play baseball? I can only stand on the side and cheer? This is sending the wrong message to little girls in VMK! I am no feminist, but come on! Could this be more chauvinistic?? :confused3

I couldn't agree more with this. Ever since the baseball theme came out I was looking forward to getting at least a jersey and hat for my character (which girls can look just as cute in) I was extremely disappointed to find that I because am a girl and primarily have girl characters am being told that I am supposed to just sit on the sidelines and cheer

As to this VMK has so many options to make boys only costumes and I don't know why they have not. They could easily do a prince costume to go with the princesses. That to my knowledge is the only costume that is girl only. Please correct me if I am wrong but be nice about it ;) . They also could make some of the boy girl costumes in different versions for boys and girls if they wanted to.
Either way I don't know why they do what they do but this draws the line. Until they actually come out with a girl version of the baseball/softball uniform it is sending a poor message to young girls. You may know alot of girls who want to be cheerleaders and I am not knocking that. They should be if they want to be. But I know more young girls who want to play baseball/softball. They should have the choice not have the choice made for them.

I am going to echo this sentiment....please do not flame or bash saying that you really think that these costumes should be available to all or versions or parts of them available to all is one thing but to bash one group or the other or to make demeaning comments about them is not necessary.

thanks

No, you don't always get what you want. Sometimes you have to fight for it. Whining? I don't THINK so.

Why not be just as happy for the boys as everyone was for the girls when they got all the other outfits? It is so unbelievable that the grownups are that jealous over the little boys having a virtual outfit. Even if it is for a short time until the girls get theirs.

My grandson asked why he was bad because he was happy to have something just for boys. He has listened to his sister tell him for months, that she has things he can not have. Of course he is happy to say he now has something too.

People that play vmk need to stop and rethink exactly the message they are sending to the little boys when they attempt to protect little girls. Feelings are NOT exclusive to little girls.

If a little boy is happy because he has a uniform and a little girl is happy because she has a cheerleader outfit. Why brow beat the little boys? Why make the little girls feel so unimportant? It very shameful that only the grownups are having a problem with the boys baseball suit being out a LITTLE sooner than the girls.

Why should the boys have to wait until the girls outfit is working correctly?

i didn't exactly read through all of these posts, so maybe someone said this already. but like a week or two ago, on the VMK home page, there was a girl in a purple and white baseball suit.... so... where are ours? i want a pink one!

I will play the devils advocate here. Probably get flamed for defending the young men.

Chauvinistic? Sexist? Where were these cries or better yet TAG words when the little boys never got an exclusive outfit they could call their own?

Sorry son but VMK is only for girls, you don't count. It has to be this way because all males are bad chauvinists and Sexist if they have their own outfits.

I would also like a baseball outfit for girls and cheer for boys. I am just asking to just cool the tag words. Its just a virtual outfit. Little boys are being bashed enough without bringing it to this.

This argument is so unfounded there are just as many boys only costumes as girls only.

Also no one is jealous or protecting little girls over little boys I have a little boy and only a little boy so I do know about there being as many if not more boy costumes than girls. Just make a couple of characters and look at all the boy choices compared to the girls.

No one is brow beating anyone. Relax.
