would you find out if they have any value?

My son collected them about 15 years ago when we lived in Cinninnati so many are Pete Rose and the like.

I know nothing about this subject.......can you help?

There is a magazine out there called Beckett Baseball Card. You can look up the values there. You can do the same on their website, but you have to pay to do it: www.beckett.com

If you “eBay”, you can probably find some of the cards there and see what they’re selling for.

Beckett is a good price guide, but don’t be overly optimistic about the condition of your cards. “Mint” cards are very rare!

Buy a beckett for the prices. Now after you see the prices stayed seated because the actual value is maybe a 4th of that.

Mint cards are not THAT rare, but if they have just been kept in a box out of a hard plastic sleeve then more than likely they are not mint. For purpose of a non-graded card mint isn't hard to come by, but when it comes to a graded card then Mint is harder to find, again not rare, but alot harder to find.

I have TONS of graded cards that are 9 or higher (mint or gem mint)

The sentimental value is more than the actual value probably.....unless you hav some ruth, mantle, etc... rookies.

since the cards were "touched" and "traded" within the neighborhood, you are right about the sentimental value. I see our library has a 2004 edition of the Beckett Guide. We might look for the fun of it.

I am so glad you asked this question! I have a box of cards in the closet from the 50's and 60's I was hoping to sell. I would really like to sell the whole box at one shot though rather than one card at a time!

I don't collect baseball cards but I do comic books.

If you plan on selling them yourself on eBay, please make sure that you carefully read the grading guides and accurately describe the condition of the card, including any flaws no matter how minor. Serious collectors are going to be very particular, and if they see a flaw that wasn't listed they aren't going to be happy.

April, if I were you I would take those cards to a local card shop. You definitely want a trained eye to assess cards from the 50s and 60s since the overall value may be higher.
