Base ticket to AP upgrade question

A coworker purchased 6 day base tickets from UT and Memory Maker. They're staying off-site. They started crunching numbers and with daily parking and MM it makes more sense for one of them to get an AP. If they pay for parking on the first day and enter a park, can they upgrade one of the passes to an AP, have the price bridged, get credit applied for the Memory Maker and one day parking? There is a notation on the Disney website about the special AP promotion that says it doesn't apply to previously purchased tickets. Is that just referring to previously purchased APs or is that for all upgrades? I don't think they really care about the 13 mos., they just want an AP.

The upgrade can be done before entering a park, if they like.
If they have the time, it can be done at (for instance) Disney Springs, at Guest Relations.
