Hi All,
In your opinion which do you think is better to have... just a base ticket or a park hopper???
We are discussing this now and wondering if the $70 (difference of the two) is worth it to get a park hopper?

Thanks for ur opinions...

We always use the hopper.

If you go to (for instance) Animal Kingdom and it closes before the other parks, you can go to see Wishes or IllumiNations that evening.

If your plans get rained-out on a given day, you can go back on another (part of a) day to "catch up".

You can start the day at a Morning EMH park, then hop to another for a late lunch when the first one starts to get busy.

If you just decide for any reason that you just want to go to another park... you can.

Others here don't seem to mind being locked into a single park per day.
It does save a few dollars not to hop... but in the overall scheme of a WDW trip... we like the flexibility.

Buy the base ticket. If you find you want the hopping you can add it for the $40 later.

I personally wouldn't travel without it. But if you're unsure, buying it later will give you a bit of flexibility.

Yep what Robo said. And toward the end of our trip it is nice to know you can go back & do somethings you missed or want to do again.

I personnally always get the base ticket to start off and then if I feel the need, add the hopper option. I am really used to visiting a park all day and don't park hop much.

I prefer investing in the no exp option if I have enough days to make it worth while. For instance, we are getting 7 day base no exp. for our upcoming trip. We plan on using only 3 of those days and going to MNSSHP. We will have 4 days left for another trip.

It's cheaper than that. It's an extra $40 (or less) per ticket, which can be more than one day. For example, if you get a 5 day ticket without park hopper the cost per day is $39.80, and with the hopper it's $46.80, just a $7 difference. With a 10 day ticket the difference is only $3.20 a day.

That's definitely right, although I think the cost of the hopper option, if you wanted to work it out on a "per day" basis would depend on how many days you hopped when the ticket was used up or expired. For example, if you hopped 4 days on a 5-day MYW ticket, it's easiest for me to think of that as $10/day for hopping. If you hopped 2 days on a 10-day ticket, you spent about $20/day.

I'd go with the park hopper, it's nice to be able to move around the parks if you want.

Yes, definately go with the Park Hopper. Like others have said, you will give yourself the flexibility to go to one park in the morning (like AK) and end your day at another one.

I would get a base ticket, and then if you feel the need to hop while you're there, upgrade to a park hopper. We had park hoppers on our most recent trip and never hopped. We usually don't. Last year we had APs (which would allow us to hop) and never did. So if you don't know whether you're likely to hop, I'd wait and see.

Also consider where you are staying. If you are staying at one of the deluxes near MGM and EPCOT, having a hopper could be a really nice bonus.

Imagine that you leave Yacht Club, walk through EPCOT's AM EMH and do a few of the premier rides, then hop onto the monorail and get to MK before it opens!

We find that the parks that had an EMH the night before are generally the least crowded, but we like to use the first couple of hours of AMH mornings. Park hopping really lets us enjoy all the rides....

We are going in July (six of us)

We are not hopping. In the past, we have rarely park-hopped.

For the cost of park hopping, we can spend a day at a water park or a couple of round of mini-golf.

I agree with what other people have said about buying the base and then seeing if you want to park hop while you're there or not.

I personally wouldn't if I was just going for one day, but that's just me. Park hopping gets cheaper when you stay for numerous days.

For instance, I bought a 3 day park hopper rather than a two day base and a one day park hopper because it was less money.
