Bartender Fee??

I have a question about the Bartender fee on my BEO....we have 21 adults enjoying a 4.5 hour open bar totaling $966(before tax etc). Doesn't that mean that we will not be charged a bartender fee since we are exceeding $500?

Thank you I definitely will! Lastly, we have an open bar at the reception, but not the dessert party. We definitely want to have one, but are leaning more toward the BOC style just because not everyone will still be drinking by then. How does that work? do we pay the Bartender Fee in our BEO and then the BOC part gets taken out of the $1,000.00 that disney has in reserve for us or do we pay a BOC fee upfront?

Wish I could say. I say lucky you guys to be doing the open bar! I've got two people coming who become pretty volatile with alcohol. Best to just not have it at all. Saves a lot of money though! LOL!

Just to clarify, whether you pay for a package or pay BOC, you are still getting an open bar (i.e., you pay, not your guests). And unless the majority of your guests are heavy drinkers, you will still likely save money on your reception bar if you do BOC.

The way they price BOC is to charge you upfront for what they estimate you will spend and then refund the difference afterward. So if their estimate is over $500, you won't have to pay a bartender fee for BOC either. The estimate is calculated by multiplying the price of the cocktail in your liquor package by 2 drinks for the first hour and 1 drink each hour thereafter for each of your guests over age 21. Most people then get a refund after the event when guests don't drink that much, but if you do end up owing any money, they will take it out of the portion of your deposit they reserved.

I have a question about the BOC (not sure if you know the answer/have input). We have BOC set up for our Disneyland wedding, but the amount does not seem to fit that formula. I'm curious to know how they got our number (1k) for 75 guests over 21. Any ideas? It does seem like it may be an arbitrary amount they assign, but that number seems low to me and I am anticipating having to pay more after for 5 hours of bar.

Disneyland's and Walt Disney World's Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings departments don't always do things the same way, so I'd definitely check with your planner to see how they do the calculations. It could be a mistake. Or it could be based on their experience with BOC.

I found it interesting on our BEO that they make us prepay both the $100 bartender fee AND per guest formula that results in much higher than $500. You'd think that they'd only go with the higher amount!

I just got my DD BEO today and I was scratching my head on this item too. We got charged $100 for the Bartender as well, however, we have an open bar and got charged about $.01 per person since it is included in the per person catering charge. Hmmmm, since we are not having a cash bar and have already pre-paid for the alcohol, how will I exceed the $500 minimum to get the bartender charge waiver. I know it is only $100 but we are over-budget right now so every $ counts!
