When I first read this post, I was pretty upset. Tia had "volunteered" me to send the videos to others without consulting me first. I'm not sure if people realize this, but sending tapes can get costly. Even if I get a bulk pack, tapes cost about $1 each. Shipping the tapes can cost $2.18 (if I tape it in SLP mode on 1 tape) or $3.95 (if I do SP mode on 2 tapes). So as you can see, if a lot of people ask for the tape, then it will get quite costly. It surely isn't cheap to send it and I did not see any dontations to cover at least postage.

Also, I was upset about people who wanted revenge on me for taping them. I was tempted to destroy the tapes and not send anything to anyone. I was also tempted to destroy my special project I've been working on. In the end, though, I decided not to. I figure that if you were embarassed about what you did at things like karaoke, then you should not have done it. Surely I was not the only one there with a camera or a camcorder. Also, when people like Dan Murphy post photos, no one plots revenge against him. All I see is a showering of gratitude.

However, in fairness, I will be sending a tape to those who have asked for one so far. These people can expect a tape soon:

I ask for your patience because dubbing about 4 hours of video takes time. I don't have a mass tape duplicator.

From this point on, if you want a copy of my tape, I will ask that you send a blank tape (or two if you want it in SP mode) and a SASE with enough postage for the return trip. If you would like a tape and you are not on the above list, please PM or e-mail me for the details.

As a final note, I was trying to send the tapes to the different Cons so the most amount of people can see them at a less cost to me.

It was all in fun at least from my point of view and I apologize for any misunderstanding.

I would gladly fork over some money just let me know what you need, I believe I already have the address unless it has changed. If so just let me know.

And believe me, I know that mailing things is not cheap. This ebay business as me running to the PO almost everyday.

Barry, I'm terribly sorry for 'volunterring' you to send the tapes out to everyone. I was truely only joking. Since this post was taken to heart in a way I never intended, I will be happy to send you enough money to cover the cost of the tapes for the people on this thread.

And I was only JOKING about the revenge. Are my winks and such not showing up???

I am not able to express 'gratitude' yet as I have not seen the videos myself. Maybe some of the lucky few who have seen the videos would like to share that with you.

Barry - I'm more than willing to share the tapes that you sent to John-Con. They were truly the hit of the picnic. Everyone really enjoyed watching them, and we even had Tia on the phone while Barb gave her a play-by-play description. I personally know what a pain it is to duplicate tapes having done it in the past for some members of our church.

If it would help, we could start a sort of lending library and mail the tapes to each other. Since I already promised to bring the tape to Patrick's house on July 6th, I think that I should wait until at least then to send it to someone. If that's OK with you Barry, we can set something up after then. I know that you went through a lot of work to chronicle DIScon 2001 and I for one really appreciate that you captured a lot of the magic of that event for us to enjoy over and over again.

I know that I promised you the meager amount of tape that I took at DIScon and as of yet I haven't delivered. Please PM me with your address and I will try to get a tape to you with what little I have. I searched high and low during the picnic to find my DIScon tape and eventually uncovered it. The only real highlight of my tape was the end of Illuminations where the fireworks light up the night sky. I spun the camera around and panned the crowd since it was bright enough for my camera to actually record faces.

Bravo Barry for a job well done. I dub thee "Official DIS con Videographer".

I've had a few hours to think this over and I think I overreacted to the whole matter. I am truly sorry. What I think set me off was that Tia "volunteered" me to send video to others without knowing the time or expense it involved. That made me very angry and set the boulder rolling out of control.
