When they showed clips of the Bee Gees singing career, and then showed how Barry looks today, he did look a lot older. But wasn't "Saturday Night Fever" from the 70's? So, that would be 30 years or so ago, right? None of us look like we did 30 years ago!!
I was surprised at how "old looking" he was though. I seem to expect singers, movie actors and actresses to "never grow old" and look any different than they did at the height of their career.
I do think Barry would look better with some hair coloring, and maybe a new style...shorter too.
The DJ at a local radio station this morning was saying that he thought Barry Gibb sounded llike Sean Connery and looked like the Geico caveman. The DJ was also commenting on the teeth. I'm sorry I missed it last night.
I didn't see him on Idol so I looked it up youtube. It is such a shame the way he is talking now and how his dentures look. He is still a nice looking man IMO. He has/had (not sure) a beautiful singing voice. I always loved listening to him and the Bee Gees.
DH thought he needed better fitting dentures. I thought it looked like he'd lost his entire top lip. Maybe in some freak disco accident involving a glitter ball and a pair of spandex pants.
Yes, he does sound like Sean Connery, but I still love him. Up until pretty recently, he looked like he put a lot of weight on, but I thought he looked pretty slim on Idol.
Poor Barry - did you know that he recently bought Johnny Cash's house (in Kentucky, I think) and it just burned to the ground a few weeks ago?
Shoot. He looks old but I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers.
(and the fact that I just used that expression makes me almost as old as he is! )
I think he is still pretty hot. I had a mad crush on him growing up. I also liked Maurice, Robin and Andy, but Barry was my favorite. I'm not sure he has dentures, btw. That whole family has kind of weird teeth.
I didn't notice the 'dentures'... I was too busy wondering where his top lip was!!! ROTF Looks like he shaved some of the mustache and his lip disappeared too!
I couldn't stop staring at his mouth when he talked. I knew right away that they were bad dentures. I remember when my mom got a bad set that were too big for her mouth. That's what it reminded me of.
I had to fast forward through his song last night. It was horrid. I tried to listen, I really did, but I just couldn't take it any longer.
My dh made comments about how he's aged, etc., while he was singing last night. I just kept thinking how hard that must have been to sing one of *their* songs without his brothers.
