Barnes and Noble website/customer service - horrible!

So, I'm trying to order a few items for the kids to be waiting upon our check-in @ SSR next week.

Barnes and Noble's website is a bit difficult to navigate, and I live on the Internet, so I feel badly for people who don't have much Internet experience.

Purchased some toys, which are supposed to be on sale - Buy 1, Get 50%. I read the details, and it seems to imply that there are selected toys for the promo, but nowhere does it say what toys. So, I placed some in my cart, and they haven't come up. Lack of details and links for promo.

I then just tried to call Customer Service 2x, and oh boy! Not only does the system not tell you what company you are calling, but it sends you into an endless loop of holding, and then hangs up as agents are busy! WTH!

At this point, I am frustrated as they have a special book that my DD really loves, and a special toy for my son, but holy smokes, their technology online, as well as by phone leaves something to be desired...

Anyone call Barnes and Noble lately? Is this the norm? Tiger :confused3

I'm sorry you are having problems - no fun, & right before your trip too!

At this point, I would find a Customer Service email & let them know of your troubles & that you're taking your business to a competitor, like Amazon.

If the item at B&N is a good deal, it's worth it to call Amazon or another company, give them the scoop about why you are NOT using the other guys, & see if they will match the price for you.

Good luck!!

I've never ordered toys from B&N, but I've ordered LOTS of books and CDs from them. They sometimes do a similar promo with those; a little stamp/icon comes up near the "add to cart" button when it's one of the "selected items." Maybe they do the same for toys? :confused3

I've never had occasion to call CS, just email them when I've had a problem. They aren't very helpful there either. I had an order go missing last year...said it was delivered and it wasn't. I emailed them and they contacted UPS to put a tracer on it. An hour after UPS came to my house to retrieve the package that I never received , B&N sent me an email stating that they'd issue a refund. Nothing about replacing the items that I'd ordered and wanted. I'd also used a 20% coupon, so I tried to immediately re-order the items. Nope, the code can only be used once. It was still within the active period, so I emailed them about getting a new code or reactivating the one I'd used. They refused  So they lost out on that sale!

Thank you! I read it 2x, and my eyes played a trick on me as I saw June 3 - June 28th! Oy!

Thanks for that - hopefully the cart will work out properly.

I normally order from Chapters or Amazon here in Canada, but Barnes had a book and toy that Amazon doesn't have, so that's why I checked them out. I live by email, but as of late, companies are taking forever to respond to customer service emails, so I thought the promo would be over, plus, I need to order tonight so that I can ensure delivery in time.

Thanks all, Tiger :)

Not at all - I totally appreciate it! I'm an English teacher, so I feel silly having made that mistake. I had just come home from a funeral and was racing around the house trying to get vacation stuff done, as I'm back to school tomorrow, so I was in too much of a hurry! Thanks so much for pointing it out!

Tiger :)

Amazon.com is your friend.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have the one toy, and the books are more expensive - which is weird, as normally that's not the case.

I will give it until tomorrow, and if there are problems, I'll make a decision then.

Thanks, Tiger :)
