I have had gastric bypass, which dramatically reduces the amount of food I am able to eat. I understand at quick service, I will be able to order from the kids menu. Has anyone had luck doing the same from any specific table service? If not, do they allow sharing a plate with someone? If not, I'll just stick to an appetizer, but just curious what my options are. Thanks!

As long as it's not a buffet/ayce (family style) meal, or some fixed price meals (ie, BOG dinner), you'll be ok.

Via Napoli doesn't allow sharing a plate when using dining credits...that's the only exception other than ayce meals I can think of.

I had the sleeve in July 2017 and my first trip back was february 2018 and I had no problem eating a combination of kid meals, sharing meals and ordering appetizers.

At liberty tree I have both ordered the kid pot roast and also shared pot roast with my son - it was no problem and they split it in the kitchen. I shared with my son at Plaza and also they split it in the kitchen. Le Cellier they just brought extra plates, but it was a filet so maybe harder to split. at old BoG before it was fixed price I just ordered mussels, it was no problem. I have shared a regular size (small) pizza with my son at via napoli no problem but we were not on the dining plan. I'm trying to remember where else I shared - my kid is a picky eater so I more likely ate appetizers than share with what he likes. I have a dining report with photos in my signature but I dont't think I ever finsihed it - and I am probably forgetting some stuff. I have had zero trouble eating less at WDW. I don't even explain, just order what I want... the one thing I DO do when ordering a kid meal is tip a little higher than overall percentage would dictate because the server is doing the same work as if I ordered two full meals rather than one.

I have also done plenty of buffets and just basically suck up and pay for the overall experience.

Thank you so much! I'll definitely go back and read your reports. I didn't think I'd have much issue, but thought I would ask if anyone had any experiences. I definitely understand wanting to suck it up for some of the experiences. My husband has never been, and I don't want him to not get to experience some of the best parts of disney dining because of me and my tiny tummy. ;)

I used to work at a Bariatric Surgery Center and we had patients ask for a card from the Surgeon that states the dietary needs of the patient post-surgery. They would laminate a card, about the size of your drivers licence. It was great!

Most restaurants would honor this and allow an adult to order off of the kids menu or split a meal with out a charge.

I've done 3 Disney trips since I had sleeve surgery and have never had an issue ordering what I wanted (although I don't usually order kids meals- limited options, inconsistent quality has been my experience) or splitting a meal with DD or DH. Buffets are a lost cause; I pay because I love being there and experiencing it with my family, but I'll never find value in the cost for the amount I eat. Still, I've been very happy going to Boma as I found I could still taste what I want and not over-eat. It was a real success to feel that I was not missing out on one of my favorite experiences, and I could handle the food options and quantity!
