Bargain Betty and Workaholic Starring In:What Are You, A Disney Expert?

Nice pics of the Beauty and the Beast show- one of my favorite things in the parks.

The "Hollywood" pose in front of the Tower or Terror is great! :thumbsup2

What a great picture! :goodvibes I love when CM's go out of their way to make some extra magic! pixiedust:

I completely agree with your review of Sci Fi Dinner. When I went back in April we had a couple of coughing/hacking hitch hikers behind us :scared: and it was freezing cold in there.

Sci Fi must have been extremely cold for you to look forward to that September heat. Wow. Glad you liked your meal, sort-of. Well you did, not so sure about Dale.

Anyway - I can't see your pics right now, but I look forward to seeing them tonight! Too bad you couldn't walk on TSM. Your May karma was gone! Bummer!

Looking forward to your dinner. Any hints??????

I totally agree with you when it comes to the food offerings at DHS . CS meals are especially terrible . We however do really love the Hollywood & Vine dinner meal although most don't . Never have done any of the other TS meals except 50's Prime-time which didn't strike our fancy either . Sorry you didn't score FP again for TSM and how weird that everyone was there riding that ride . LOL Love the picture of Dale dipping you on Hollywood Blvd. , how Magical :wizard: Can't wait to hear all about your dinner !popcorn::popcorn::

My family all loves Beauty and the Beast too! The music just can't be beat! And thanks!

Thank you! That CM did add extra magic to our day and turned that moment into a lasting memory!

Yuck for coughing hitchhikers! If that was around the time the whole "swine flu" thing started I'd have been freaking out if I were you! I wonder why it is so cold in there?

It honestly was freezing cold in there! I thought the meal was ok overall (factoring in the cold) but Dale is pretty down on the whole thing. But dinner later more than made up for it!

We were pretty bummed that we couldn't ride TSM multiple times but there is always next year!

We've never tried Hollywood and Vine but I remember you giving it the thumbs up in your TR. There used to be a buffet at the Sound Stage, that now holds the preschool show, that we really liked. I remember taking Caitlin to that meal when she was little and Aladdin,Jasmine, Jafar and some Pocahontas characters were there. Since we liked that maybe we should try H&V sometime?

I love the pic of you all with Sully..I have to admit, he's one of my faves! The CM was sweet to offer to take pics for you! Very cute "dip" pic. I'm really looking forward to all the shows at the parks..I don't remember seeing any as a kid other than the Bear Jamboree, lol. Looking forward to the next installment!

Thank you! I love Sully too and I love how small you feel next to him :lmao: All the shows are wonderful as are the live street performers! You, Piper and your mom are going to love it!

Love this picture! Can't wait to hear about your dinner!

Aww thank you! Dale loved the pic so much that I actually had it put onto a canvas as a Christmas suprise but sshh nobody tell him :rotfl:

Holy Crap...

That picture of you and Dale "making out" is GREAT! I Love It! You and Dale are seriously two of the most photogenic people I know! (Of course, so is Caitlin). Do you guys ever take a bad picture???? Seriously, all your pics are great! I also love the pictures from Beauty and the Beast. I've never taken any in there which just goes to show that the last time I saw the show was pre TR's.

Well thank you for the compliment but I simply post the pics I think I look "ok" in and skip over the bad ones :rotfl: Neither of us are big fans of getting our picture taken so most of our family trip pics only have Caitlin but since she wasn't there we were forced to get our pictures taken

Isn't it funny that when you know you'll be doing a TR you take pics based on "I know the Dis would want to see that..." :lmao:

I totally do that. It wouldn't be nearly as fun to take pics if I wasn't posting them on the boards!

I'm so excited! I just ordered tickets for Disney on Ice :yay: We started going to these when Caitlin was just 2 and went every year for many many years. We haven't been in several years so I'm really excited! AND....they sent me a code so I was able to pre-order before they go onsale to the public AND I got opening night which was just 10$ each :woohoo: I ended up with 3 of the 55$ seats for 45$ total! This will help give us some Disney magic as we wait for September :)

We just got the Disney on Ice Deal as well.
We already are going to Disney Live! in Feb so now we have to decide if two shows are in order!! :confused3

The "dip" picture is great!
Definitely frame that one for the wall!

As for Sci-Fi, the kids love it there and we've never noticed a temperature drop.
You may have just had a bad day with the AC...

The Ice show deal was great and we got awesome seats! So did you end up deciding to do both?

Thanks! I don't know if the temp depends on the day or what time you go but it was certainly COLD when we were there! Maybe it appeals more to families with young kids since little ones are too young to "get" the 50's?

So today we saw the highly anticipated "The Princess and the Frog". All 3 of us rated the movie a solid "good". It wasn't "great" which in our book would be along the lines of the Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast but it was enjoyable. I :lovestruc Princess Tiana! She is of course lovely on the outside but she is also a hardworker from a loving family who dreams of having her own business. (she also has some great outifts and I love her wedding dress!) Her strength and drive make her a wonderful role model for young girls! And her prince....well IMO he's the cutest Disney prince ever :rotfl: he even out cutes Aladdin! (hard to believe right?) Anyway, it's a cute story with fun characters and sidekicks that steal the movie. The music is toe tapping although IMO not all that memorable. In the end good wins out over evil and the Prince and Princess live happily ever after, which is exactly what we all want out of a Disney movie :goodvibes Let me know what you guys thought of the movie!

Coming soon..our signature dinner

We have tix to the Live! Show and are still debating the ice show.
But we did see Princess and the Frog tonite and the kids (boys and girls) both loved it.
I think the favorite was the Dr. Facilier scene towards the end
(I'll leave it vague for those yet to see it)
We all think it looks like the Tiki Room gone nuts!
Maybe they'll scrap Iago and Zazu and retheme with that instead!

When I left off we had just watched Beauty and the Beast...
After the show wedecided to work on our daily scavenger hunt. We weren't able to get a couple items because they were in the queues for ToT and RNRC which Caitlin had assumed Dale would ride solo. One item from RNRC though was grafitti and we were able to find some in the ride's gift shop...

We also had to find a "movie set" and stumbled across this in the Indiana Jones area..

We tried pulling the rope that you aren't "supposed" to pull but the voice wasn't there :confused3 Guess he had stepped out for the day :rotfl:

As we walked around we ran into one of the DVC salesman who tried valiantly to get us on a tour but we were strong and resisted. The DVC is a great deal for those who live close enough to visit often or who get extended vacations, since neither applies to us I think we're better off booking deals like free dining, Bounceback or 4/3. Not that I wouldn't love :lovestruc staying at those DVC resorts....

Anyway after our visit with DVC we watched the Jedi Academy which certainly has to be a "must do" for any family with a little boy. Those kids look like they are having so much fun!
DSC_0610.jpg

After the Jedi Academy we did one of my favorite DHS attractions....The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid is my all-time favorite Disney film! I absolutely love Ariel but it's her dad that always brings me to tears. His line, to Sebastian, near the end of the movie gets me everytime. When he says, "there's only one problem left, how much I'm going to miss her" I cry like a baby :sad1: As a parent we realize just how fast our children grow up and that line sums it up perfectly! So we caught the show and I was pleased that this Ariel was much better than the one we saw in May! Maybe she'd just been having a bad day?

After our voyage under da sea we headed toward the front of the park since we needed to get to our dinner adr. However, we got distracted by some streetmosphere performers and stopped to watch their show. The sketch was by the Public Works Guys and was about "new math". They were very entertaining and we along with the rest of the crowd that gathered, really enjoyed them!

When they finished we realized we were running a little late so we were in a hurry to catch a bus. As we walked up we saw the Grand Floridian bus leaving  so rather than wait for the next we decided to take the bus to the TTC and then take the monorail from there to the GF. This proved to be a big mistake!
We quickly boarded a bus for TTC but when we arrived there we were told the monorail wasn't running :headache: The CM there suggested we "just walk to the GF" and he told us it was "15 minutes tops" This information was extremely incorrect! It took us about 15 minutes, walking briskly in the 95 degree humidity, just to get to the Poly. I will admit I was getting very cranky! When we finally reached the Poly's main bldg we stopped in,hoping the monorail was back up. It wasn't :headache:. We spoke to a CM there who couldn't believe we had been told the GF was a short walk from the TTC. He hailed us a cab to get to the GF which only cost us 4$ and helped my mood ever so slightly  By the time we got to Narcossee's we felt really hot and sweaty but when we were handed personalized anniversary menus we forgot all about the trial we went through to get there.
I wasn't able to get a good picture of the menu but across the top it said "Happy Anniversary Dale and Dawn". It was a delightful suprise!

For our appetizers we split the mozzarella tomatos and the crab cakes (which are my personal favorite :thumbsup2)

vacation2009553-1.jpg

For our entrees we both got the surf and turf. The steak was so tender it could be cut with a fork and the lobster just melted in your mouth! :lovestruc

When our server came to take our dessert order I was too stuffed so I passed but Dale got the cheesecake which came with more anniversary wishes

vacation2009555-1.jpg

It was a wonderful meal and certainly worth the 2 credits! :thumbsup2

When we finished eating the monorail was still down so rather than hop from bus to bus we got a cab back to Pop. We stopped in the food court and I filled my mug while Dale grabbed a beer and then we enjoyed our drinks out by the pool. We turned in early so we could make the most of our next, and last, day!

Great Update Dawn. What a bummer about the transportation to the GF. That stinks when you just miss a bus. Then the walk to the Poly. Grrrrrr! I'm glad you were able to get a cab so quickly and, at that point, it was probably worth whatever they charged. Here - take my wallet - just get me there!!!!! :rotfl:

Your trip to Narcoosee's sounded worse then mine. If you remember, we parked in the self parking lot that was 1/2 mile away! :scared1:

Your dinner looks strickingly familiar to ours. Denny had the crab cakes and I had the surf and turf. Denny also had that cheescake which tasted devine. I'm so glad you enjoyed your meal. See your pictures makes me want to go back RIGHT NOW!

I know you resisted DVC, but I actually think it is great for short trips, as well as longer trips. But, I do agree with you - there are a lot of great promotions to take advantage of right now. Still, I think you guys would be perfect for DVC. I'm really pleased with it. In the future I hope to combine it with the free dining promotion. I would like to do 1/2 free dining and 1/2 DVC. Best of both worlds!

Plus you could will it to Caitlin, who would be eternally grateful! :worship:

SShhh! Don't let Caitlin hear about us being able to will it to her :rotfl2: I think it's an idea we'll probably really consider when our family grows after Caitlin's married and has kids.

I could totally go for that dinner right now too! Last year this time we were getting ready for our "girls trip" and I am really missing Disney!
