We'll be arriving a day early on Embarkation day, but were wondering if better to stay one more night when we return--or just go to the airport and fly home???

If you have the time, I would recommend staying in Barcelona for at least a few days. It is a wonderful city with plenty to see. One day before the cruise is certainly not enough. I spent 5 days there before my honeymoon cruise and it was just the right length of stay.

We won't have much time unfortunately. So again--just fly home the day we disembark?? IT's a question I guess of timing--when do we actually arrive back in Port and is that enough time to get to the airport and fly home??

Barcelona departure went quickly, no immigration issues, just pick up your bags from storage, and its like 30 minutes to the airport

What time did you arrive back in Port?? I'm trying to figure out the time diffrences as to when we might actually arrive back in Pa.

Barcelona is 6 hours ahead of EST. When you look for airline tickets, the times posted will be correct for the airport you are flying out of and in to. You don’t have to figure any time differences. DCL usually gives a recommendation as to what time your flight home should be after if you fly home on disembarkation day. However, there are people who book earlier flights, hand carry their luggage off the ship, and book their own airport transportation so that they can make an earlier flight. You’ll want to check the itinerary for the time, but I believe the two DCL cruises that I took from Barcelona cleared customs by 7:30am and people were allowed off the ship then, but nothing is guaranteed.

When I cruise, I usually come in at least a day early and stay at least one day later so that I don’t have to worry about flying out on disembarkation day. Depending on the airline you choose, an afternoon flight from Barcelona probably won’t get you to PA until late. If you can stay an extra day, it allows you to get an early flight out so that you will probably arrive home by early evening. Good luck with your decision.

If you are deciding between touring Barcelona before vs after the cruise, we normally do the touring before and use the cruise to relax or as a 'reward' for the hard work. That relaxation though may not materialize for some if the cruise turns out to be port-intensive - but may work if there are sea days.

Thanks!! Checked with DCL--they recommend a flight home at noon or later. We can catch a 12:45 on American and getting home in the evening won't matter.

Yes you will have enough time. We took a 10 am flight each time. We arrived at jfk around 1215pm. I guess you should figure arriving in the US 2 to 3 hours after you leave Barcelona....actually you arrive 9 hours later, but with the time change...I'm sure you get it. If you take a late afternoon flight there are tours you can do that will drop you at the airport.

I think we were able to get to the airport by 8:30 or 9am this past September if I remember correctly - that was with us using carrying our own bags off the ship of course and using the express walkoff. All I know is I was sitting around the airport for hours waiting for our mid afternoon flight, wishing I had booked an earlier one haha!

We were at the airport by 9:30am and we actually able to get on the direct flight home on United vs a connecting flight. A lot of flights were delayed that day but then again, this was the first Saturday after the terrorist incident last summer so things were definitely tightened with security levels. We did a 1/2 day tour directly from our flight into Barcelona via Barcelona Day Tours. They picked us up at the airport and took us for 4 hours around the city with all the sites. We saw Olympic Park, Park Guell with skip the line tickets, and so much more. It was a great way to keep our kids awake and busy before hotel check in.
