We want to get DS first haircut at the Main Street barber shop. I don't know if that's the right name. Anyway does anyone know if we go there on an EMH day what time this shop would open? What are the hours normally?
TIA

Hours are 9-5 everyday, so on EMH days they won't open first thing in the morning at 8.

Also ... they don't take reservations -- it's first come, first served. So keep that in mind when you're making your plan for the day.

:earsboy:

They have opened early on EHM days. Last time we went they opened at about 8:30-8:45. The "official" opening time is 9. Lines can get a little long so get there as soon as you can.

For a first haircut they give you a certificate and free mouse ears that say "my first haircut".

They also give you a lock of hair, nicely wrapped.

It's truly a great experience. Our girls get their hair cut every time we go now, and they put that coloring and pixie dust in their hair. This garners extra attention from Cast Members throughout the rest of the day.

p.s. (for dejr_8) My favorite dining establishment in Pittsboro, N.C. is the Pitt Stop Cafe...just don't try the salad like my wife did...something about race cars & leafy vegetables that just don't mix.

What would be an appropriate tip amount?

DH cuts his own hair, a friend cuts mine, and DD6 has never had hers cut, so I have no idea what the tip should be.

I'm trying to convince DD to have just a trim there, but she's very reluctant so far.

The haircuts are $14 so we just give the barber $20.

In the first place, I think $14 is cheap for the cut and they do such a great job that even at $20 it is a bargain.

... We had two sons hair cut on our last trip. When we got back my wife went to SuperCuts for a haircut and the woman there asked who cut the kids hair because it was a great job.

And also a few days after returning A woman stopped us in the parking lot of our town center to ask who cut the kids hair...

I would say that means they do a good job at Disney
