Have any of you done a bar crawl in the Boardwalk area? If so, what places would you recommend we visit? Our DS is turning 21 & we thought a bar crawl combined with a progressive dinner would be fun. We're open to any of the hotels, including Swan/Dolphin. His girlfriend isn't 21, so Jellyrolls or any other 21 & over venues are out. We may plan a meal late in the evening, if we can't put together a great progressive meal. So, what bars should we hit & what should we order? Any suggestions for drinks & food will be very much appreciated. :thanks:

Besides jellyrolls, there is only ESPN and Big River brewery....

Thanks for the reply. We were thinking of including Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin also.

Heard good things about the bar located at the BlueZoo at the Dolphin. Never been. I think there is also a Bar in the Yacht Club. Check out the adult and single traveler's, there used to be a sticky about the bars at WDW.

Blue Zoo at the Swan has awesome drinks and great apps. We also like the Crew's Cup next to Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. Another nice little lounge is the Bellview Lounge at the Boardwalk. All would be great bars to stop at.

Poolside at some of the Boardwalk places would be great too.

Easy access to Boardwalk Villas.

Dolphin pool bar is fun with food.

Yachtman's Bar also has good food.

The bar in Il Mullino (Swan) is nice.

Not really.

Inside the Boardwalk is the Belle Vue Lounge. No food there, just drinks.

Flying Fish has a bar. You may not be able to just go in if they're full. You can order food at the bar.

Don't discount the Swan and Dolphin. At the Swan, Il Mulino has a bar, Kimonos serves drinks and you can have sushi too. The Dolphin has the bar at Bluezoo, a bar at Shula's and the Cabana bar by the pool. Food can be ordered in all these locations.

If you go all the way across to Yacht and Beach there is the Crews Cup at Yacht and Martha's Vineyard at Beach.

Oddly enough, I don't think Big River even has a bar--(?)

But among ESPN, Il Mulino, Flying Fish, Blue Zoo Shulas and the Crews Cup lounge, you should do just fine.

Can add that we always eat at the bars at FF, Shulas and Blue Zoo and have never seen them absoltuely full. Also you do not need reservations to eat the bars--if they have room, they'll let you right in.

There is a bar at big river grill, you also have the bar at espn, we like the bar inside bw, very nice and relaxing.

Yes Big River has a bar. It's in front right when you walk in. It's a relatively small place though.

Good to know!!

Haven't been back there in years (since they gave me a teaspoons worth of gravy on my meatloaf and for beer refills I had to get up and actually find our server).

Try sitting at the bar and sticking with appetizers...that's my usual procedure with Big River.

Wow, thanks for all the help. You all are great! We love bluezoo. I could use a scallop appetizer fix. We would have to go to Kimonos last. After the birthday boy saw they have karaoke, he wouldn't want to leave. It sounds like there are more options than we can make it to w/o passing out from alcohol or food consumption.

My DH is now saying DTD will be more fun for a 21 yr. old. :headache: I think the food would be much better at the Boardwalk. Plus, DTD restaurant bars may be packed on a Saturday evening/night. We may have to leave it up to the birthday boy or flip a coin. Do you all think the Boardwalk area or DTD would be the best choice?

BTW, I didn't even think to check the adult board for ideas. That's a great idea.

Thanks again everyone. :)

Both DtD & B'walk would be fun for a 21 y.o. DtD can feel more 'adult' at times, and you can always go bowling at Splittesville.......

The drinks will taste just about the same no matter which choice you make.

Enjoy. Be safe.

I think the Boardwalk/Crescent Lake area is the better choice because the bars and lounges at the Swan and Dolphin hotels are an embarrassment of riches. They have some of the most unique drink menus and best appetizers on property. Start at the Cabana Bar and end at Kimonos. Stop at Bluezoo and maybe Shula's in between.

Downtown Disney might feel more lively and celebratory, but I think, were I turning 21 years old, I'd rather do something more subdued and adult with my parents and underage girlfriend.

Don't miss Crew Cup lounge at Yacht club next to the Yachtsman. It is a great little place:)

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I'm developing a strategy for where to start & where to end. As it turns out, I know our DS better. ;) He chose Boardwalk. Yes, I had to rub it in.
