Banned until 2015

Hello! I hope someone can give me some good info! We recently had to wipe out our whole PC operating system and reinstall everything due to some spyware, but now that it's working again my daughter can't log on to VMK! She gets an error message that says she's banned until 2016!! It was working fine the day before we had our computer repaired, and when I emailed tech support and sent them our IP address, they wrote back and said that they had no record of this computer being banned! I've tried so many times to figure out how to get them to fix it, but they keep sending me the same generic response: "we closed the case since we felt that the answer we sent previously was adequate." It is SO frustrating and I feel so bad for her!! Is there anyone else we can contact, or email, or call??? Or is there anything we can do on our end to fix?? PLEASE HELP!! And THANK YOU very much!!!!

Well then it must be a ban from VMK. I was not sure if the tech support you were talking about was VMK or not. If it was I can not answer that. If not you need to contact VMK and ask why your daughters account is banned. Ask them to review the logs and why she was banned. Sometimes people get banned days after an incident.

On Contact Us put in your daughter's Username and birthdate. It should give a better reason for the banning.

I believe she did state she contacted VMK.

I am moving this over to the Main VMK board.

I think the only thing you can do to get this resolved is to keep writing to "Contact US" or go over their heads and send a email to a shirt.

What may possibly have happened is that, while you were reinstalling everything on your PC, it was offline long enough for somebody else to be given the network address you had, and when you reconnected to the Internet you were given a different address. This is normal and happens all the time, *except* that in this case the address you were given may have been one that was banned when someone else was using it.

It's unlikely, but it's a possibility. If there are other people in your area who play VMK and may have gotten themselves banned, then this might be what happened.

How are you connected to the Internet? If your PC is directly connected to your cable or DSL modem, then you were probably given a new network address when you reconnected. If you're going through a Cable/DSL Router, on the other hand, then the router probably kept the same address.

You can try getting a new network address ("IP address") and seeing if that gets you around the ban. Either turn off your computer long enough to free up the address for someone else to take, or enter a static IP address (but that can cause its own problems, too, if someone else tries to use the same address). Ask someone local for help, someone who can come over and look at the way your PC is set up.

It appears by what you mention your daughter has been banned from VMK for 10 years. The computer is not banned and other members of your household can still play VMK.

Thanks for the reply...I think I'll just keep on emailing them til they get sick of me! : ) I wonder though - is there another email or phone # that I can use to actually go over their heads and get some real info? They keep telling me to use their contact us tool, but they keep sending back the same stupid auto response! It's extremely aggravating! Anyway, thanks a bunch to you and everyone for the help! We'll keep trying and we really appreciate it!!!

Just read your post and I also am So Frustrated with the generic replies that I have been getting. They include everything to: I can not verify that you are the parent of the child banned, to technical error to: MY Favorite 'Thank you for your inquiry on becoming a Community Leader."
The child who recieved the ban was answering a question posed by a "friend " on vmk. He Knew not to give any real information out so he Made up a screen name for other site that the other person asked about[neopets] He did not think so, we all are ban for a month. My other children are upset and so am I.
There goes my bargining chip to getting homework and chores done for a month. [lol]
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you DIS people.
