I am moving to Indy in two weeks. Looking for a good bank out there.... any suggestions???

Thanks!

I think my in-laws use bank one. It used to be Indiana National, but was bought out a few years back. When we lived there, we used a credit union, so I dont' have first hand experience. I don't think they have many positives or negatives about their bank, which might be about as good as you can do now.

If you're interested in credit union type things, I think Railroadmen's Federal Credit Union is still in business. We finanaced a house through them, and I was pretty happy with their service.

Good luck! OBTW, what part of Indy are you moving to?

I've used Forum Credit Union for years and the only complaint is the low number of ATM's they have. The biggest bank in town is definately Bank One, but I don't have first hand experience with them. Indy also has Fifth Third, Key Bank, and several credit unions.

When I moved to Indy (May 2002) I intended to keep my accounts in FL as my primary banking, but decided I needed/wanted a bank in Indy as well. I didn't bother to do any real research, I just wanted something with free checking and online account management. The closest bank to my house (4 min actually ;) ) just happened to be a First Indiana bank, so I chose them. I have no experience with any of the other banks in Indy but I seriously do not recommend First Indiana. They had a habit of changing the costs of "free" services without informing the customer and subsequently just charging their account for the "new" fees.

I use Bank One, it's everywhere, it's everywhere. :) I have direct deposit so my checking is free. :) It has an online thingy as well.

Welcome

I think you'll find Fifth Third Bank in Indy, they seem to be all over Indiana.

Personally, I have a problem with their name. Remember the good old First National, then there was the 2nd National. Now we're all the way out to 5th 3rd and by my calculations that's 14 places behind First National.

I dunno, just doesn't seem they can be that bright.

Hope you enjoy Indy, lots to see and do there and cheap flights to Orlando!

Ooooh, I don't like Fifth Third Bank at all. I used to be treasurer of the pto at my kids' school and the principal said to bank there, that it's a great bank.
The one I went to charged for everything, including going through the drive thru.
After we gave it a respectful try, we closed the account and went somewhere else.

We have used Fifth Third for 6 years and we're never charged for anything. Maybe for business accounts it is different? We had completely free checking before it was cool to have completely free checking. ;) We have a gold card with them and our car loan too and we think they have great customer service. I would never change banks unless they really started to go downhill.

Bridget, maybe it's this branch.

I reccomend Teacher's Credit Union but then my nephew works there. LOL
