I know that if you want to bank your total points for a year, it needs to be done in the first 6 months of the use year and that you can not bank in the last 2 months. I'm looking to find out the percentage that can be banked between months 6 and 10. Thanks.
What about borrowing? Are there similar restrictions?
100% during the 1st 6 months of your use year.
50% during the 7th, 8th, 9th month of your use year.
25% during the 10th month of your use year.
Nothing during the 11th or 12th month of your use year.
All amounts are cumulative, as Doc explained.
Borrowing is only done at the time you make an actual reservation, and you may only borrow the number of points required to complete that reservation. You don't actually borrow points ahead and deposit them into your account. They are borrowed and used immediately.
If you later cancel a reservation which used borrowed points, the points are returned to your use year (the one they were borrowed into) and maintain a status of 'borrowed' which means they cannot be banked.
Restrictions on borrowing: You may not borrow banked points.
Technically you can borrow points two years away. Example, you have a June UY so you're currently into your 2006 year. Next month (July) you want to make an 11-month reservation for June 2007 (which is in your 2007 use year). You may borrow points from your 2008 UY for that reservation. Effectively, July 2006 you're calling and using 2008 points to make a reservation in UY 2007.
