I'm not sure I can do this, so I've come to the experts! My use year is October. I bought 150 points. I have been playing around will dates for trips and just realized I may not be able to do what I'm planning on doing. Here goes...this October I will get 150 points. I'm planning on going June 13-18, 2004 staying at BCV in a studio...using 70 points. I will bank the remaining 80 points. I will get an additional 150 points in October of 2004, for a total of 230 points. Now, here's where I'm not sure about. When do I have to use those 80 banked points? I'm planning on going January 16-22, 2005, staying in a 2 BR at BCV for 210 points. Can I do that? And if so, can I bank the 20 points that I will have left, add them to my 150 points I will get in October of 2005 and book a trip for November 6-12, 2005 in a 1 BR at WLV using 167 points? I hope this isn't too confusing! lol Thanks! :D

I hope that I am correct---new DVC member myself. When you bank points you must use them in the next use year or you loose them. From what i understand that you will bank 80 points and then get another 150 in OCtober. That will give you 230 points---you have until Oct. 0f 2005 to use the points that you have banked--so yes you should be able to do this.

Well, points you bank will have to be used by the end of the use year they are banked. So, if you use 70 points this October and bank 80 points into 2004 then in October 2004 you will have 230 points. The 80 banked points have to be used by the end of September 2005 or you will lose them. The regualr points can be used/banked as normal. Just make sure the banked points are used first when making a reservation but that should be done automatically.

So, what I'm doing is ok, right? Thanks for the replies! :D

It helps to put into chart form. An October Use Year would look like this:

Use Year.....Vacation Dates
2003.....Oct 1, 2003 through Sep 30, 2004
2004.....Oct 1, 2004 through Sep 30, 2005
2005.....Oct 1, 2005 through Sep 30, 2006
2006.....Oct 1, 2006 through Sep 30, 2007
2007.....Oct 1, 2007 through Sep 30, 2008
and so on.

You may bank points from any year into the following year, but those same points may not be banked again.

Oct 1, 2003 you receive your 2003 allotment of points, 150. You use 70 points for a 2003 UY vacation. (June 2004)

You bank the remaining 80 points into 2004 which means those points may be used for a vacation between Oct 1, 2004 and Sep 30, 2005. Since these points are banked, these are the ONLY dates for which they may be used.

Oct 1, 2004 you receive 150 new points, so your 2004 use year now has 230 points total, categorized as 150 2004 year points, and 80 banked 2003 year points.

You are going in January 2005. This is within your 2004 use year, a year you have 230 points. January costs you 210 points, so for that trip of the 230 points you have, you use ALL of the 80 banked points since they must be used within the 2004 vacation dates timeframe, and you use 130 of your regular 2004 points to get the 210 you need. The remaining 20 points are regular points so you may bank them. You bank them into 2005.

October, 2005 you receive a new allotment of 150 points giving you a total of 170 points now in your 2005 use year. (150 of these are regular points and 20 are banked points)

You want a Nov 2005 trip. Nov 2005 is within your 2005 use year and requires 2005 points. You use the 20 banked points first, and then whatever additional regular points you need to make your reservation. If you have any regular points left over, you may bank them into 2006.

Hope this helps.
