I have 263 2020 points with a March UY. I have no plans to go in 2020. Looking for advice Should I bank those points now? I have 2 contracts that equal 400 points available for 2021 and 400 for 2022. If I should decide to go in 2020 would I be able to borrow 200 of my 2021 points assuming I cannot bring bank the 2020 points. Thanks for your thoughts

You will be able to borrow 50% of the points in each contract. So, if they are each 200-point contracts, you will be able to borrow up to 100 points from each of them.

Personally, I would wait until closer to my banking deadline before banking those 2020 points. There’s no advantage to be gained by banking early.

With the new temporary restrictions put in with borrowing, I would definitely wait until your banking deadline to bank just in case you change your mind.

My advice is no. Your 2020 March UY just started. IMO, do not bank until closer to your banking window closes. Banking is a final transaction, and if you change your mind for some reason you would have to borrow to book a trip.

You don't have to bank everything at once. You could bank part of your points and leave part in case you do decide on a 2020 trip.

I also have a March UY and currently have 230 points in 2020 with only a very small possibility of taking a long weekend trip this year (marathon weekend, if it happens). Though there is plenty of time before my banking deadline, I’m seriously considering moving them now in case they make temporary changes to the banking policy. I would assume they would grandfather us in if they are already banked.

Of course the alternative is to rent them out which seems even more risky at the moment!

Thanks to all for the advice. My worries were that of Disney316. I think now though I will hold off and bank closer to the deadline.

I just banked our April points. Banking can be modified at anytime. If they feel that is putting pressure on 2021 they could limit it. We aren't going this year after canceling what we planned for June.

I am considering banking my 2020 points now as well- even though I have until October. Normally I would agree with the rest of the opinions that there is nothing to gain by banking early but I am afraid they could modify banking rules too. Im def not going anytime soon so Im not risking losing points.

That's what I did. I had a reservation this week for 160 points that I cancelled, April 2020 use year. I already have a November reservation that I am leaving intact which used the rest of my 2020 points. I am planning an April 2021 trip that I will book next month that will take 111 points. I also have a waitlist for VGC for late September/early October. I banked the 111, leaving 49 for the waitlist in case in comes through (plus I would need to borrow some). If it doesn't come through or I cancel, I can bank those also, deadline 11/30.
