Banking points and then renting them?

Can anyone tell me if this is a no-no? We have someone interested in renting some extra points of ours, but we'd need to bank them in order to help them out. I think I recall reading that once you bank points you can't transfer them, but I can't find any fine print regarding banking and then renting.

Anyone done this? Or tried to do this?

You cannot transfer banked points but you can rent them, in that you can make a reservation for your renter on your account with them using the reservation.

So it would basically be like any other renting process? (Sorry, I have rented FROM DVC owners, but have never been the MEMBER renting them out.) I would just bank the points and then make a reservation under their name with my account?

Why does it seem like Disney wouldn't allow this? I guess you never know until you ask, right? :-)

Yes, you can do this. It's really no different than banking your points and making a reservation for yourself. You're just putting the reservation in someone else's name.

Yes, that's right. If you are making a reservation for someone else and the dates fall in your next use year, you would have to first bank the points to use them for the reservation.

Not quite sure what you mean by "wouldn't allow this". It is OK to rent a reservation. The status of the points (banked, borrowed, transferred, holding, etc.) you use to make the reservation doesn't matter. You can still rent the resulting reservation.

Disney doesn't allow you to transfer banked or borrowed points to another DVC member. Just the way it is. If I had to guess, I'd say the reason has something to do with managing all those points and keeping banking and borrowing somewhat in balance. But I really don't know why. Again, just how they set up the rules.

Unless you are transferring, you are not renting points, you are renting a reservation.

you can also transfer the points and the other member can then bank them. transferred points may be banked.
