Just listening to the email show right now and wanted to add another option for using a debit card with perks.

Bank of America has a USAir Debit Card option that I just started using.
You get 1 mile for every $2 spent, but that's better than nothing! And since USAir is the primary carrier we use- it really helps to earn miles when I am buying groceries, gas, etc.

Just another option that in addition to the Chase Disney debit card and Sun Trust's Delta debit cards that were discussed on the show.

The problem with airline miles rewards is that they keep changing them, making them harder to redeeming, lowering the values, etc. The card companies are worse about restrictions on those than any other card type. (Hence, we don't have one - straight cash back only for us, mostly.)

I know it's not a debit card, but I'm lovin' my Starwood American Express card! I charge everything I can on it and earn great points, redeemable at the Swan/Dolphin (Westin and Sheraton hotels). I think I get much more (monetary value wise) from this card than from the points you earn on a Disney credit card or debit card. And I'm using it for my Disney vacations, staying free most nights on Disney property at a deluxe Epcot resort. :yay: Or, if I choose to travel elsewhere, the points are good at any Westin/Sheraton hotel. I also use points for free stays at hotels en route to Disney (we drive from Cape Cod)!:thumbsup2

We signed up for the Way2Save account at Wachovia- every time we use our debit cards for anything, they debit an additional $1 and deposit it in a special savings account. We have had the account since January and have more than $1000 in it!!! Talk about painless savings!! And, after the first calendar year of opening the account, the bank pays a 5% bonus on the balance at that time. We should end up with a bonus of $60 or so.

Editing to add- Bank of America has a similar program called Keep the Change- when you use your debit card, the bank rounds up to the next dollar and deposits the change into the savings account for you.

I use the Keep the Change Program as well. I used to save my change in a jar and use that for Disney Dollars. Now, since I use my debit card for just about everything, we no longer have any change! This Keep the Change program makes it easy again.
The annual bonus is nice too!

I have had a Bank of America/USAirways debit card for years. Love it.

I don't know how I missed knowing about this card earlier. I've been a BoA customer for 15 years!!
Glad to hear you like the program. I can't wait to see my miles grow!

I wanted to comment on the email show Disney card discussion as well. The lady said she wanted to change to the debit card because it will be automatically deducted from her checking acct. With the Disney VISA charge card, you can make a payment every 3 days! I have been doing this for some time now. The points are better and I never have a balance. :)

Keep in mind, the Disney Rewards debit card has a $25 annual fee per checking account. There are no additional fees for up to four cards on a single account.

At $1 reward for every $200 spent, you're looking at spending $5,000 just to break even.
