Banking deadlines

I hate to ask such a stupid question here, but I can't seem to get onto the member website (AGAIN!) and the last member clubhouse didn't contain the usual banking reminder.....and I can't find the guidebook.

But anyway...what are the banking deadlines for a March use year?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Secondary question (that I once knew the answer to but can't remember now)....

Are the percentages based on total points owned at all resorts or divided by resort?

Assuming they are all under one master contact, yes it's based on the total points owned.

So, I am too am trying to understand what benefits I have with two contracts, but all under one membership number and with the same use year, June.

So if I own a combined total of 250 at VLW and BW. Does this mean that I have until Feb 28 (50% banking deadline) to bank 125 points, which would 50% of the total owned. Or until March 31 (25% deadline) to bank 62 of the total (250) points. If so, that is better than I thought. I was thinking that I had to keep them separate and could bank only 50 at Wilderness Lodge or 75 at BW if I waited until Feb 28. It sounds like if I used them all at Boardwalk that I could still bank 100 to 125 at the Wilderness. Is this right??

Thanks.

Just for future reference, I have the banking stuff in the site listed in my signature. It also has some other info from the guide books.

Some day I'll have some spare time to work on the site more.

That's correct. All contracts under the same membership number (and thus having the same contract number but with different extensions) are combined to determine banking percentages. If you had not previously banked any points at all, then at the 50% window you could bank 125 points in any combination you wanted from among your BWV and VWL points.

The other advantage to true add-on contracts with the same use year is that at 7-months you can combine points in any way you want to make a reservation. If you wanted to make a 100 point reservation somewhere, you could use 25 BWV and 75 VWL, or 32 BWV/68 VWL, or 1 BWV/99 VWL or any other combination you wanted.

When contracts are under different membership numbers (often with resales which have different use years), none of the above applies and the contracts are totally separate.

Thanks so much for the information. I am learning so much from these boards. I had thought I wanted to purchase another resale, but with a different use year in order to get a second membership number. I am convinced now that I will benefit more from buying an add-on direct from Disney or a resale that has my same use year. I realize some may see benefits as to different use years, but for me, I have decided to stay with the same use year.

If you purchase from Disney you will automatically get the same use year and it will be an Add-On purchase.

If you purchase resale, and are getting the same Use Year, be sure Disney knows you want to put this as an Add-On to your existing contract. They may or may not do this automatically. If they make it a new membership number, then having the same use year doesn't help as it would be a totally separate contract (not an Add-On)

Your resale broker should be able to work with Disney to ensure it's treated as an Add-On and not as a separate membership number.
