Dear highly experienced DVCers,

hypothetical question:

Let's assume that I banked all 255 points from this year (2004) into next use year (2005)...

In the 2005 use year, I decided to treat my wi and kids, the outlaws and my parents to a week longbDVC vacation - I would then be in need a whole lot of points...

Would I be allowed to borrow my 2006 points on top of the 510 points from 2004 & 2005? (This would give me 765 points.)

We just payed the down payment and are waiting for more paperwork with more details, but I just HAD to know about this.....

Thanks!

Yes, you can bank points and borrow to use three years worth of points with one trip as you described.

And let us know when you're "official"...we'd love to welcome you home!! :)

I agree, the answer is yes. Just remember that for part of 2005, you are still in your 2004 use year. In this situation, you would only be able to use the 2006 pts during the 2005 use year but not the 2004 use year. What is your use year?

We just did that!!

We banked last year's points and are using this years and most of next years points.

We start our vacation next Sunday and are staying 17 nights in a 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk!!!

We can't wait!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

If your vacation just happens to span your UY... you can actually use 4 weeks worth of points for your stay. Tricky but possible.

The only tricky part of your plan is in the event of a cancellation.
Remember, the 2004 points banked into 2005 must be used in 2005, and the borrowed 2006 points cannot be returned to 2006. Therefore, if you have to cancel any reservation, work with MS to make sure that first 2005 points are put back into your account for banking.

Only had a problem one time. The MS cast members are usually very helpful. One time I had an inexperienced CM, so I just called back - no problem.

As Dean's alluding to, you can only have the 3 years worth of points after your 2005 use year starts. For example, if your UY is September, on 9/1/05 you can use the three years worth of points.

If your trip spans a UY anniversary, it can be tricky as Jim has mentioned. MS (Member services, not M$ the software giant) will work with you to clarify things but you may want to use a spreadsheet or at least map it out on calendar which points you think you'll use when. The key here is you only have 1 contract...this gets a little messier when you have multiple contracts with different use years and multiple banking/borrowing issues. :cool2:

If you plan on getting a GV for the crew, you should consider making your reservations exactly at 11 months (assuming your home resort has Grand Villas). You might want to do this 'day by day'.

The real question is, will you want to take all of these people down there a 2nd time. :cool2:

p.s. Are you really from Philly or is that just easier than saying where in the suburbs you live? :p
