I'm beginning to get a fried brain trying to work out plans for our next year's stays and hope you can help.:headache: :headache: I'm still new to all this.

Our user year is August and we signed up last December. I have our first trip booked for Dec for which I am using the points banked from 2007. I will be cancelling 5 nights which I know go back into 2008 UY, adding to that year's total.

We plan to stay April/May and again in September 2009. I want to book the first trip soon obviously. I will probably not quite use all our 2008(inc banked points). I will bank what are left when I can this autumn.

How does MS know which year's points you are actually using for which nights in case I need to cancel or rearrange some of our May 2009 days? Do you book days with the banked points first and then the rest of the days with the current year's points so they then know?

Hope you can understand this.

When we booked our trips the earlier the date of the day in the booking then the points are used in chronological order ie oldest first/banked points. The only issue is when you cancel a night that uses two different UY ie one with banked or one borrowed points and current UY.

Claire ;)

Thanks Claire.

So, if I book using mixed banked and current points, then cancel some days from the beginning and add them at the end, they still know those nights are using banked points? Is the original UY on their records?

Not trying to work the system or anything, just want to know as next year looks a bit complicated with dates being flexible at the moment. We can't book the April/May flights just yet but I want to get the DVC portion booked.

Oh, it is still so complicated.:scared:

Rule MS generally follows is to use banked points first. If you have ressie using both banked and regular, their system will continue to show number of banked and number of regular points in that ressie. If you cancel some days and add others, they should still use banked points first for additions; in fact, they should take out regular points first for cancelled days. NEVERTHELESS, you sometimes get inexperienced workers at MS who do not always know the banked points first rule so you need to make sure, by confirming with person you are speaking to, that banked points are being used first. It is therefore also important that you keep track of banked and regular points in any ressie in the event you have to make a change.

Thanks. Keeping track seems a good idea.

I would never cope with another contract with a different user year!!!
