Banked Pts...expire when??

Need to ask a silly question....

I have 96 pts., from Sept UY 04, banked.

The members guide says they will expire @ the end of the UY.

So....is the UY exactly 12 mos.??? Is the end of the UY...Sept 05????

Im planning a blow out family vacation for 06.

Does this mean that I need to make ressies before Sept 05 to utilize these 96 banked pts.????

The banked points will expire at the end of your 2005 use year - 8/31/2006.

Maybe this will help you understand as bit bettr.

Your 2004 use year runs from 9/1/2004 to 8/31/2005.

Your 2005 use year runs from 9/1/2005 to 8/31/2006.

Your 2006 use year runs from 9/1/2006 to 8/31/2007.
etc.

You bank points one year ahead. If you bank 2004 use year points to 2005, they expire at the end of the 2005 use year, which is 8/31/2006.

If by chance you meant that 2003 use year points were banked into your 2004 use year, then the points would expire at the end of the 2004 use year, which is 8/31/2005.

If you do not use the banked points prior to the end of the use year, they expire and are lost to you.

I could be more specific about the use of your 96 banked points if you tell me the dates (month and year) of the vacation you are planning in 2006.

Remember you can call to make the reservation 11 months ahead of time. That has nothing to do with use year. You just need to have points that will be valid for the dates of your stay. The points don't have to be actually in your account to make the call.

I'm also not sure about when the points you mention were banked. Are they actually 2004 use year points - did you just call in the last few days to bank them?

Or are they really from your 2003 use year - points you actually got September 1, 2003? If that is the case, the points would expire on 8/31/2005. If you do not use them for a stay tht occurs prior to 8/31/2005, you will lose them. Those points cannot be used for a stay that occurs on or after 9/1/2005.

Ue year always starts the first day of the month and ends the last day of the month previous to the start of the use year.

sep 1 2004 ends aug 31 2005
oct 1 2004 ends sep 30 2005

etc.

The 96 banked pts. are Sept 04 UY.

I'm in the process of planning a May 06 family vacation.
So...... using those pts. + my (total) 05 allotment........
......I need to book that vacation by ?????

Sorry...I'm just trying to do this for the 1st time and dont want anything to expire...

I guess this will get easier in time....right??

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, senecabeach, you can book your May 2006 vacation starting in June of 2005 at your home resort, or October,2005 at another DVC resort. If you want, say, May 1 - 5th, you can start calling on June 2nd, 2005 (which is 11 months from May 1st's "checkout day") if you want to call day by day or wait until June 6th to book the whole thing. Unless, of course, June 6th is a Saturday, then you'll have to wait till Monday to call.

Someone else can probably clarify this for you, but I'm pretty sure this is right.

Hi senacabeach!

You could book your May '06 vacation in June '05 if you are booking your home resort. If you want to book it day by day, you just wait until the "check in date" has passed (in June '05) and tell MS that you'll be booking it day by day. If you want to wait and book at once, you wait until the "check out date" has passed in June '05 and book the whole thing at once.

Your 96 2004 banked points must be used by 8/31/2005 or you will lose them. You will have to use your 2005 points and borrow 2006 points for a visit in May of 2006. I think that is right. If not, someone correct me.

If they were originally Sept 04 points, if banked they would become Sept 05 points and expire 8/31/06.

I just want to be sure you are following this -- I think you are.

You mention that you have 96 banked UY 2004 points. Just clarifying -- These are points that just became available to you at the beginning of this month and then you contacted MS and told them to bank them into UY 2005? If that's the case, they are good until 8/31 2006 and could be used for a vacation in May 2006.

If they are points that you banked INTO your 2004 UY from last September's allotment, they are good until 8/31/2005 and could not be used for a May 2006 trip.

Yes, Pamokw.....they are Sept 04 UY, called MS, banked pts.
