Banked points for a cancelled reservation

I have two reservations this year. Let’s call them R1 and R2.

R1 was primarily made with points banked from the prior UY, and R2 was primarily made with current UY points.

If I end up having to cancel R1 (at least 31 days prior), will the banked points released automatically go towards R2? Or is this a situation I should be calling Member Services about?

You will have to get them reallocate. You can do that by calling MS or it's possible to do it yourself online by going in and selecting to modify the reservation. Then go thru selecting exactly what you have and finalize and it will use the banked points instead.

1. Cancel R1
2. Modify R2 and just rebook the same room/category
3. Points will now be taken automatically that will expire soonest

Anytime you make changes and have banked/borrowed points you should simply go through and modify your reservations a couple times. The system is built to correctly use points in the right order.

If you track what is on what reservation though you simply would go to the reservations with points you can bank first and get all your banked/borrowed points used up as much as possible. No need to call MS over these.

Just want to add that this assumes both trips are in one membership..not two different UYs.

Gotta say- thanks for this, I am in same situation, so If I just go through the motions of amending my other booking, the banked points will reallocate to that booking?

Yes, as long as they are from the same membership and can be used for that booking. IOW, if the reservation at R1 was made at 11 months and the points used for R2 are for a different home resort, this will not work until 7 month out. And even then, there must be rooms available at R2. But if they are for the same home resort, or R2 was made inside of 7 months, then it works to reallocate the points.

Thanks - just did it, same resort and use year and the points went into my second reservation, so I only have 32 banked points left now, which I may rent out or something.

Had I not seen this I was thinking I would have to rent or loose a lot more.

One less thing to stress about.

I promise it’s easy! Go in and just hit modify and follow through without changing a thing other than making sure all contracts with banked points are checked..If already..nothing to do and just rebook. When you look at the new points summary it will have picked up all banked and freed up current UY points that had been used!
