Banked points and booking

Next July, we are planning a 2 week vacation. The 1st week at WDW (Sun-Thu night) and then to Ft. Myers Fri-Sun nights. We would either then go back to WDW for a Mon-Wed/Thu night stay or go to HH for a Tue-Thu night stay.

However, we may only do one week, which would be the 1st week at WDW, then cancel the 2nd week. Since we own at HH, I'm planning to call next month when the 11 month window opens for me.

Currently we have a lot of banked points from our 12/04 UY. And when you make a ressie, MS uses your banked points 1st, before dipping into your next UY.

Is it possible when I call next month that I can request that they use my 12/05 UY points to book HH? That way, if we cancel, I can do it before my banking deadline and bank those points until 12/06 UY (and save the banked points for the more definite trip).

Yes. You can tell MS which points to use for a reservation - you may have to explain why if the CM questions you (a good CM will want to make sure you understand that the banked points expire at the end of your use year).


If you don't already, it's a good idea to request a status of your points afdter each transaction with MS. It's a lot easier to clear up any misunderstandings right after they happen that it is to fix mistakes later.

Actually, I wouldn't worry about it. Reallocating the points if you had to cancel is not difficult as long as those points would have been available to make the reservation in the first place (i.e., you could have used those points to make the reservation at the time that the reservation was made). It will keep everything easier and only require you to play around if you need to. JMHO.
