Bank Points, Use Year, Using Points Question

I am confused and I think I know the answer but I want to confirm so please hear me out.

--Aug 2014 use year I have 58 pts left. I banked them in my 2015 use year
so that is August 2015 to July 2015.
--That means I have 158 pts for 2015. Which is Aug 2015 to July 2016.
--However I want to travel in OCt 2016.

BIG QUESTION BELOW

Can I use the 158 pts plus my 100 pts for 2016 to book a room in oct 2016 if I book at the 11 month window (which would be roughly Jan 2015)?

The 58 points that you banked from 2014 to 2015 must be used for a reservation with a check-out date on or before 8/1/2016.

Everything is based on UY of travel, not the UY you are in when you book.

So, an Oct 2016 trip falls in your Aug 2016 UY. You can "pay" for that trip using banked points from the UY prior to the trip (Aug 2015), points from the UY of the trip (Aug 2016) and points that you borrow from the UY after travel (Aug 2017).

Unfortunately, the 58 you have already banked will not be available for any trips that do not fall within your 2015 UY.
