Bank points now?

my use year is October and I can bank points till May 31. We are going this July and I have waitlisted a Poly upgraded view vs Standard view. Do I bank my 2016 points now or do I wait till May 31 to see if my waitlist comes through? I have approximately 100 points to bank. If I get my upgraded view it will cost me 20 or so points. I would like to use my 2016 points for this trip.

What points are used if waitlist comes through after I bank my 2016 points?

your 2017 points if you bank the 2016 points.

you could bank all points except for the 20 points needed to upgrade.

If the wl does not come through you only lose those 20 points.

Bank all but 20 points. If your WL doesn't go through, bank the remaining 20pts, and the system will use your 2017 points if the WL goes through after may 31.

Why lose the 20pts ? It's worth $300 on the open market!

I agree.

Go ahead and bank the points you don't need for the waitlist. If on May 31st the waitlist still hasn't filled then bank the remaining 20 points. Then decide if you want to use 2017 points if the waitlist fills and if not then cancel the waitlist.
