Bank/Borrow Question

Okay help me out here. I have an August use year.

-I banked 100% (160 points) of the August 2005 points.

-Vacation at HHI in August 2006 is 155 points.
-Vacation at BCV in January 2007 is 76 points.

-With my banking I still have 79 points for my August 2006 use year. I planned on banking these 79 points to the August 2007 use year. Can I bank these?

-On the DVC website it says for the August 2006 use year I can BORROW 79 points but it says I have 0 to BANK. I'm confused. I know I can call DVC and ask but I have to work during their open hours tomorrow and I don't want to wait until Wednesday to know the answer.

-My main question is (to make it more simple) if you bank points into the next use year, do you HAVE to use all the points (banked and yearly points) in the next use year or can you bank some of them?

First of all, my math says you have 89 points left (rather than 79). 160 +160 -155-76 =89

Sounds like current year points were used to reserve your vacations at HHI and BCV before the banked points were used.

When you call MS, ask for a status of your points before you do anything. If they tell you that you have 89 banked points left in your 2006 use year, ask to reallocate the banked points to one of your reservations so that current (2006 use year points) are returned to your account. Then (sometime after 8/1/06) you will be able to bank those current use year points into your 2007 use year. You'll have until the end of January 2007 to call to have them banked and MS won't let you bank 2006 points until at least August 1, 2006.

Sorry HHI is supposed to be 165 points not 155 points. Thanks Carol.

maybe it says zero because you have not started your August 2006 year as of yet. So you cannot bank points in a year that has not begun.

Actually, it sounds exactly right.
- It's currently Mar 06, so you're in your Aug 05 Use Year.

- You have 79 points left (that you *want* to bank) in your Aug 06 Use Year.
- You're allowed to borrow those 79 points in the event that you want to make a reservation between now and Aug 01, 2006 (though you probably don't want to).

So, just sit tight, you can't bank those points until you're in your Aug 06 Use Year (which starts on Aug 01, 2006).

You were right. I called and asked MS. I just can't bank those 79 points until August 1, 2006.
