have been. We have the opportunity for a mini vacation at the end of May.

Would love to know what to expect from the weather??

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, May in Alberta can be a very interesting time.

Most of the time it is nice weather, anywhere in the range 15-25, however we do still get snow in May sometimes, and some rain.

However I went to Banff last May with my family and we had a great time, no snow, no rain, nice and sunny, if a bit breezy. It is a beautiful place to visit at anytime of the year.

If you have the opportunity to go I say go for it, just bring sweatershirts, jeans, capri's and t-shirt to cover all the bases, and don't forget your bathing suit for the natural hot springs.

The only thing to expect is the unexpected. Although you will not encounter severe cold, you can expect temperatures to be anywhere between -5 to close to 20 and it can be sunny, raining, or snowing. It is a great time to visit Banff as excluding the May long weekend, you are in a shoulder season and the crowds won't be quite as thick as the summer. Just before you leave, check Banff's long range forecast and that will give you a better idea of what weather you will encounter.

We went to Banff 2 yrs ago for the May long weekend - had an amazing time - stayed 1 night at the Chateau on Lake Louise then we stayed 2 more nights at the Rimrock in Banff. We had a great time hiking around the lake - we took lots of pictures and it's funny to look back at them and see the kids in t-shirts playing in the snow!! :lmao: Weather was beautiful and sunny the whole time but no idea if that's the norm!
Went for an amazing trail ride in Banff too!! Want to go back again sometime and stay a bit longer!

thanks everyone!!

Would love to hear my about that train ride in Banff - my little one would love that!!!!

Not train - we did a horse back trail ride - my ds' was 6yo when we went and he rode on his own. He loved it - I was terrified!:lmao:

We did do the sky ride to the top of the mountain that is near the fairmont in Banff - that was really cool to be so high - kids said they felt like they were on the top of the world - we even saw mountain goats way up there. there's also the hot springs but we skipped that.

We stayed here http://www.rimrockresort.com/home.html and it really was a beautiful room - we booked through expedia or travelocity and were upgraded to a suite when we checked in. was expensive but the view was beautiful and service was great - it was one of those once in a lifetime trips for us that dh's boss was kind enough to pay for as a thanks to him and us for putting up with the long hours and we are planning on doing it again in a few years!!
