What is the best way to get from Baltimore, MD to New York City to see a Broadway play? I'm going in April 2006. Is there a commuter train or something? I'm flying to Baltimore from DFW.

This has nothing to do w/ Disney but I know you budget busters can tell me the best method. THx.

I think there's some Super Shuttle train that zips you there in like 2 1/2 hours.

Try Southwest Airlines to Islip Long Island...ISP is the airport code. Cheap fares!

Hunt Valley Motor Coach - $50 same day round trip- it is a comfortable ride- they show a movie..., they drop you off right in the Times Square/Broadway area (actually they drop you right at La Fontaine theatre where Beauty and the Beast is running.) I think it only works out if you are seeing a Matinee but you could call and check their schedule.

If you go to Islip you then have to deal with getting into the city from there(which could take you about 2 hours if there is traffic) My personal best bet is to go with the Amtrak bullet train thing- we have done that and made it in about 2.5 hours I think. and it was easy. Although I don't know how far that is from BWI- A flying option is Newark-in NJ easy to get to NYC from there. But again my vote is the train. (let's hope the transit strike is over by then)

I prefer Amtrak but I have taken the Greyhound before and it's been fine. Bring a music player and or a book, and something to snack on.

The greyhound looks like the best deal- and I think the station is right at 42nd st. (theatre district) Can anyone confirm?

I believe the Greyhounds go into Port Authority(although I might be wrong) and that is between eighth and ninth ave from 40 to 42nd street. Walking distance to the Broadway shows. (although I would still do amtrak over bus any day.

Yes, Greyhound will take you to Port Authority, which is walking distance to Broadway and the Theatre District.

I also prefer Amtrak but sometimes the tickets are expensive unless you catch a deal.

And no, the transit strike doesn't affect Amtrak trains, they are still running just fine, although they come into Penn Station. I doubt it'll still be going on by the time you arrive, but if it is, you'll have to walk or take a taxi from Penn to Times Square/Broadway.

There is an Express liner train with Amtrak. I took it many eons ago when I was living in DC and DH (then fiance) was at the NYC office for a month. It much better than a bus and more comfortable as well.

Which play????
