Hi, you have been great in the past helping us plan our boy scout trips. Well this year they want to try Baltimore and I can't find any campgrounds. Does anyone know where we should stay. Thanks, I'll also post this on the Community Board thanks in advance. gina

Are you looking to stay in Baltimore proper or in the area with a drive into Baltimore City?

If you dont mind about a 25 minute drive then Patapsco State Park is going to be as close as I know. There are some places north of town which are a little further away.

There is not really anything in Baltimore for camping that I am aware of.

if you don't mind about a 45min to an hour drive there is Cherry Hill Campground in College park Md. (IT is a Best Park)

We find it to be a very nice campground and the folks are very friendly and helpful. If you plan on site seeing, they even have talks in the morining at the Cafe about where to go and how to save a little money. We went up to the Baltimore Aquariumm and the traffic isn't bad if you time it right...

We stay there every Spring for a couple months.

There is a Boy Scout Camp about 45 mins. notrh of Balt. it is Camp Rodney in the Del-Marva Council located in North East Md.

Camp Rodney is very nice. There is also Broad Creek which is Baltimore Area Council. Susquehanna State Park also has camping, as does Elk Neck State Park. There is a KOA a ways south of the city, but like another poster said Patapsco is closest to Baltimore proper. For nicest though, I would suggest Rodney or Elk Neck which are very close to one another.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice my DH called Camp Rodney and this seems like the way to go. The closest State Park doesn't rent to Youth Groups and he really doesn't want to be too far away. Thanks again, Gina

Great choice! Camp Rodney is right on the water and has some wonderful views. The staff is very nice and the food is good. Out troop did summer camp there this year. The town of North East is charming and if you get the chance a side trip to the lighthouse at Elk Neck would be close and enjoyable.

Have fun!

Mary
