Baltimore BOT-Fest

Sara: thoughts are with you and your family

Mike: The relay does sound strangely tempting, I'll think about it if you don't mind a slow poke on your team. Are you all going down for Princess or will Kathy be solo?

Satus quo here, work is crazy this week as we have 2 people away on vacation and I need to pick up the slack. Did manage to find some time to run but still feel frazzled. The kitten comes home tomorrow-- wish us luck that she and the dog get along.

Sara - Thinking of you today. I hope all goes well and you are back to posting soon.

Kathy is going solo (or so she tells me ;)).

About a relay: I would LOVE to do one. Poor Jodi has been trying to get us going for 2 years now and it just hasn't seemed to work out. Can we really try to figure one out for this year or next? I'm afraid Dodo won't ever talk to me again if we don't.:sad1:

Lastly, are your ears burning? It seems we are mentioned from time to time on some of the other threads. We are an enigma!

Sara- Hope you're doing well...

Mike- That's funny that we are an enigma to the WISHers. Isn't it amazing how this group that started because they wanted to run the Marine Corps Marathon in 07 has stuck together?

Speaking of marathons - you know one I've wanted to do? Chicago. Anyone want to put that on our fall docket for 2011?

Anyone going down for the ESPN 5k in late Feb? Chester?

I told Jodi about this, but I wanted to share it with my Bot friends as well. Sorry it turned out to be long...

When I was down for the marathon, you all know I arranged to interview John Bingham, and had media access to cover the full marathon on Sunday. I had been working with someone from Disney Sports PR, and she's been really helpful in setting up interviews and getting access for me.

Anyhow, I said to her that I would like a tour of WWoS to write an article in the future on the "re-branding" to ESPN. We met on Friday after the marathon, and she walked me around and told me about the changes that are taking place. I asked if everything was going to be in place for ESPN: The Weekend at the end of February. She said yes, they were going to have the grand opening celebration of the new ESPN WWoS Complex during ESPN: The Weekend. Then she said they were just getting ready to send out an announcement of the event, and that I was on the list to get the announcement. I didn't think much of it - whatever, I'll get a press release for the opening event.

Last week, I receive an e-mail from Disney Event Services. It's an invitation to "join us as a VIP guest to experience the grand opening of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex during the 2010 ESPN: The Weekend Festivities." I read it quickly, not thinking much about it figuring, I was just there, and I can't go back again. Then it catches my eye that at the bottom of the invitation it says including travel, accommodations, and complimentary tickets to the VIP Reception, ESPN WWoS Complex, Harlem Globetrotters and WDW Theme Parks for me and a guest. So now I'm interested!

I ask Dana, and she says she'd love to go if it's a free trip. Now we have to find a sitter. Dana's sister (in Cleveland) says she teaches on Thursday, but can come out after that. So it looks like we may be able to go down for an adult weekend.

I'm going to try to think of some things that Dana especially would like to do for a Valentine's Day present.

Dave, that's awesome!! You have to go.

Sara, hoping all is well today!

Dave - That's fabulous! Wow, what fun!

Colleen - Shouldn't you be getting ready for work?

Dave: That is too cool :thumbsup2 Have a fun "grown up" weekend

Sara: thinking of you

off to do 8 miles then pick up a little kitty

So this is where all the cool kids are hanging out!! :cool1::cool1:

Mind if I hang around and pick up some tips and inspiration from all of you pros! :)

Kathy (aka twizzler lady)

I know right... I feel so left out!! :guilty:

Oh good! Other 10K'ers! :thumbsup2

Matt - I did it last year for the first time and had a blast! :woohoo: But then, how could I not have had a good time...alll those Marines... :rolleyes1

:snooty: OH!! I see how it is!! Keep you company for an hour and a half at the start and then "poof" you disappear at the first sign of a man in uniform!!

Kevin
:earsboy:

Sara - Waiting to hear from you....:grouphug:

Freaks

Mike is right, I may cause bodily harm to any one of you @ any time in the future if we do not get a relay together soon. There are SO many to choose from lately. And with the amount of BOTS who have running spouses, we've got almost enough! Usually the longest runs @ one shot are about 8 miles. If you guys (I'm not saying Kathy) can come up with available weekends I'll do the research. I thought there was one in April down in VA somewhere? And that's the LAST you'll hear from me about a stoopid relay! :rolleyes1

Jen - I'm so excited for your new arrival!!! Hope the pup interaction goes well!:thumbsup2

Colleen - Get to work!:rolleyes::teacher:.

Mike - So you're seriously considering that 50 miler? Awesome!! Do they allow cell phones in the ER 'cause I wanna call to congratulate you afterward! :lmao:. Just kidding, you'll do awesome!

Ears burning? Dude, mine are alight 24-7 :sad2:. BTW, what happened to the BookSlug & TwizzlerTroll? :flower3:

Dave - So cool about that ESPN thing...BTW, WHY didn't you buy that Disney Annual Pass on Sunday instead of Monday so you could come to Biergarten????popcorn:: D-bag. I could be talked into Chicago. Was thinking of doing the RnR Chicago 1/2 on August.

Chester - What's up? You're not watching soap operas yet, are you? Hope all's well on the work front & such.

Howart - Sorry your knee is turning into an a$$. But it seems like you're getting it done @ the gym. Maybe time off running is a good thing, then. Tell Cam get better!

Lou - So MCM is a no-go for you, eh? I mean you could do it though, right? So your family dis-owns you, it's worth it to spend time with the likes of us!.

Where's Mindy? I say they're either A. Running too much to post or B. Drinking too much ChocolateDonutStout to post! :thumbsup2. I like that latter option. In fact, I definitely need to start drinking more.

OK, so what about the Atlantic City Marathon?

Running....yep. 3 yesterday, 6 Weds. 3 Tues. 4 Sun. Today? No way. It's colder than a bucket of Polar bear poop. Tomorrow supposed to be shnasty, too, but maybe I'll get a few in.

Mine are just ringing all the time... stoopid tinnitus...

So much bitterness over Biergarten. I actually bought my annual pass on Thursday when I took the students to MK, not Monday. However, after seeing how Sunday went, there's just no way I would have been able to go to Biergarten even if I did have a park ticket on Sunday. I was at the airport from 1:30-6:00pm picking up my students.

Chicago, October 2011 Mark it Down Everyone

Hey Bots. It’s colder than Disney right now! (Never thought that I would be using Disney as a reference point for cold)

Sara – :grouphug: I hope you are able to check in with us soon.

I would really, really, really love to do a relay. I really think it would be a lot of fun. The Bourbon one sounds good, but not sure it would work this year since a lot of people (me included) want to do Wine & Dine and MCM.

Dave – That is awesome. Free trip – woo hoo! I wonder what hotel you’ll get to stay at? And I also really want to do Chicago at some point. I’d say it’s a real possibility for 2011.

Jen
– how big is the kitten now? Kittens are so much fun to play with – you should have a fun night!

Mike – how is your random foot pain?

Jodi – When’s the AC marathon?

As for my running – I ran 6 yesterday, nothing today, will try to do a big “long” run of 8 over the weekend. Knee is ok, not great, but as long as there is no sharp stabbing pain, I'll take it.

I'd like to do a relay too, but the schedule is getting very tight.

I got an e-mail from Disney the other day, and they said the accomodations would be at Carribbean Beach. I was hoping for Animal Kingdom Lodge (as the closest Deluxe to WWoS), but hey, I can't be greedy (or at least I can't be that greedy).

Glad your knee is feeling OK. Good luck with your long run this weekend.

solotraveler/Kevin: Thanks for posting. It's great to see you again, it's been a long time. I didn't know you were in DC now. How long have you been there? I thought you were in Florida.

I should be recovering from my drive to New Orleans for the Mardi gras Marathon on the 28th, or I would be there.

OK, so what about the Atlantic City Marathon?
Jody
SaraX2 :grouphug::grouphug:

No soap operas yet. I'm working twice as hard to make half as much money. Today is my last day and it's really starting to sink in. They transferred the title of my old company truck into my name - so I had to spend some money to register it.

When is the AC Marathon?

And speaking of relays, there is a 100 miler in the Keys in May:
http://www.keys100.com/

I'm definitely not fast...
And I'm only Half-Fast.

Happy trails,

Chester

Bummer, I thought for sure you'd be there Chester.

Good luck with your last day Chester. I hope the transition goes smoothly, and I wish you nothing but the best.
